Nyefmaker and I have been discussing the difficulty I've been having in trying to unlock the Zaan's blade. I have a Dec 2010 model, without the LBS. By design, very little of the lockbar on my knife is exposed for the thumb to press on, and hence, I can only unlock the blade sporadically...if at all. This has caused me to leave it in the safe and generally carry one of my Sebbies. (which I also love).
Nyefmaker mentioned to me that the newer design on the Zaan's LBS model would be much easier to unlock, due to the larger area of thumb access to the lockbar. We were barely discussing this, and one arrived for sale on the Exchange. I noticed that Nyefmaker had beaten me to the punch, with a PM, so I did not post. I sent Nyefmaker a note and congratulated him on the sale.
Well, being of noble birth, Nyefmaker informed the seller that he would give me first place in line, and that he would take second place. Nyefmaker wrote me and said I could have it in his place if I desired. I held off, as I didn't want to "steal" his knife.
Shortly thereafter, Sinister Shogun posted a desire to purchase. Three hours later, still not having seen any resolution (by the seller) of the proposed sale, I posted that I would take it, IF it was still available.
Later that evening, the seller contacted me and said that it was mine if I wanted it. Hurrah!
My hat is off to Nyefmaker for his generosity , and to Sinister Shogun, who passed for reasons unknown to me.
I don't know too many guys that would do this for a mild recent acquaintance, but I am totally impressed by Nyefmaker. Thank you, Sir.

p.s. I will post relevant comparison pics of lockbar designs once the newer Zaan is received.
