There is a Stohlman 1# maul online for $59.99 I see that they are $100 from Tandy so I assume it's a good price but are mauls worth it or should I just start off with a rawhide/nylon mallet?

Thanks!

Matt

Not a bad price at all! I have one of their 2 pounders and its one of the best I've used yet. I got it when it was offered with both nylon and rawhide heads. Now its only nylon. Sad because I love the feel of the rawhide.

Its a good one for learning as the round face is much more forgiving of impact placement.

Eventually you'll end up wanting both I'll wager, I use both very regularly. I have the Stohlman flat faced mallet/maul for many years now, its my go to for tooling untill I finally break down and get a 1 pound round faced maul.
