For belt carry of a Seal Pup, is there a preference for the Nylon or the Kydex sheath? I'm familiar with both, but would like to know which is preferred. Thanks for any input.

Thanks, Chris. I read here that you really like the Pup. Appreciate your input. (What side of the Mountains are you in here?)

I had a kydex sheath made for mine, and attached it to an ESEE backing. Great combo. I also use mine for SCUBA diving, so to me the kydex works better, but depends on what you're going to do with it.

I'm over in Goldendale. It's about 10 miles north of Oregon on Hwy 97. I'm an equal distance from Seattle and Spokane I guess.
I have to be honest. I don't use my seal pup a whole lot. It mostly sits in my pickup waiting for an emergency. I did use it as a hand plane a while back. Another contractor and I were building a cedar fence and we wanted a slightly thinner board for some reason...

Chris, truth be told, after the initial wearing, mine will sit in the truck too along with a Gransfors Bruks ax (a small indulgence of mine). Your neck of the woods is a little rough for me - but you can see all the mountains from there...nice town. Slikrickabn, thanks for the input. I went with the nylon.

My Seal Pup came in a Kydex sheath, But right now it's sitting in an OD Green Nylon sheath from 2003/2004. For wearing on my belt, I like the nylon, but for lashing the knife to a pack/gear I prefer kydex.
