So it is all about leather and kydex these days?
I recall that when my battle rat was delivered in 2005 it came with a complimentary black nylon sheath with a Kydex liner. Not the fanciest thing, but functional. I have no idea where the sheath came from, Eric probably knows.
In any case, I am just wondering why not more nylon sheaths out there? I've got nothing against leather and kydex. In fact, I love both materials and think they make truly collectible and functional sheaths. I just wonder why ballistic nylon (BN) isn't more prevalent.
It seems like an easy and inexpensive enough material to work with. It is surely durable enough, and the material is quite available. I would imagine that BN sheaths could probably be cranked out en masse faster than even Kydex can be.
I see that one of the designated sheath makers (Semper Paratus) does in fact do BN sheaths, but I never hear anything about their work.
So I guess the question is, if someone were to put out a basic BN sheath for say $20 a throw(including shipping) for these fine Busse knives, would people give them any business?
I been thinking real hard about foregoing the leather and making a BN sheath for my AK. If only I could find a heavy BN in a nice tan...
