I have been watching a few threads on "Survival Sheaths", Nylon/Cloth type sheaths with Kydex inserts. While I usually take a Kydex sheath outdoors (lower profile) I do love these survival type sheaths.

I have sheaths from the below folks and really like them!

Ka-Bar Eagle: https://www.kabar.com/product_detail.jsp?productNumber=8016&mode=category&categoryId=4&categoryName=Accessories

Below are some others I found during web searching. I have never tried them but am curious if anyone has ever had any experience with these brands?

Also, just to see, does anyone know of other folks that make these Nylon w/ Kydex Insert style sheaths?

Happy Holidays!

I have a Gerber Silver Trident that came standard with a Blackhawk sheath. Very nice construction.

One of the reasons I was investigating these alternate Survival Sheath makers was trying to find one that was the right size for a Becker Brute (9-1/2" long, 1/4" Thick, and about 1-7/8" Wide).

As far as I see, the only option currently is a 12" TOPS sheath but that would be a tad to long :(

I did email "Tactical Tools" on a 10" sheath....
They are normally 6/7/8" in length but I have a few larger. Will check my stock today and let you know.

No response as of yet (email on 21-Dec-2006).

I recently saw a pre-Blackjack 9-1/2" MachAx on sale on ebay with an "original nylon/kydex sheath by John Carver at Eagle Industries". I found their website but they do not seem to sell fixed blade sheaths these days, but I emailed them anyway. No response (email sent on 03-Dec-2006).

FINALLY FOUND ONE! :D

I received my custom knife from Ranger Knives today! I also purchased one of the Nylon w/ Kydex sheaths for the Ranger RD9 since this knife's dimensions seemed close to the Becker Brute.

PERFECT FIT!!!!!!!!!! :D

Glad you found it. I was going to tell you. The Becker BK-9 also fits in the Ranger RD-9 sheath. Now, if only I can find one to fit a Collins #18 Bowie.
