Just about finished this one...a few tweaks needed here and there, but basically done.

3" blade of 1095, 6 3/4" overall. Handle is Cocobolo on dark red liners. Fittings are 304 stainless.

Many thanks to Marcus and David.

As always, thank you for taking time to have a look.

Maybe a bit more tapered tang on the next one, Ian, but this is a STUNNER!

I particularly like the wood, handle shape and the sheath. Nice choice on the fittings.

Well done.

Thank you all very much for your comments.

Steven...Cheers:thumbup: I couldn't agree more about the tang. I made the error of not making it thin enough to allow for the handle shaping. The tang often ends up a bit thicker once you've cleaned up the profile of the handle...at least it does for me...matches the nice little error of not noticing that stain/glue mark on the sheath before I dyed it!:D

Still, I'm pretty pleased with this one. It is the hardest knife I've made....the grind alone has made me a little balder and greyer than I already am, in fact I found it harder than the Big Bear. Add that to the incredibly fiddly collar/bolster, awkward handle profile, the 1st blade which I ruined on the post HT grind, and the 1st stag handle that had to be binned and you have one interesting build!

In fact, this is like my 20 year old broom. It's only had two new heads and three new handles, but it's still as good as new.:D

Looks GREAT Ian. What a transition you have made from the first knives you had posted.

This would be one of my favorites you have done to date.

Thank you very much. Trying to improve is what it's all about really...nice to hear that it's noticable.

Thank you Marcus...I'll take a look.:)

pretty damn sweet. It's got a nice chunky, dependable look. Sheath looks nice and solid too.
