Has anyone compared a forged blade to a stock removal blade? I have done a search and found where 5160 was compared, but I was thinking of comparing forged O-1 to S30V. Both hardened to about 60 RC.
From the searches and research I have done, they may be almost equal, but I was wondering if anyone has experience with both. Also does anyone make forged O-1 folding knives, if coated with boron carbide the O-1 would most likely be as rust resistant as stainless but maybe tougher. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Just remember that the coating doesn't cover the edge, whitch is really the most important part of the knife.

I understand the coating won't cover the edge, but good point. Not sure if using a carbon steel knife on something acidic, such a meat would cause corrosion/erosion of the edge. I also meant to say the the S30V would be stock removal. Sorry.
