'o' kami?

I bought an old HI 25" sirupati on ebay awhile back. The Kami's mark is simply a circle 'o' (no quotes :) ).

Who is/was he?

Thanks,
Phil

Your pics aren't coming up for me, but the nearest mark I have seen to an "O" was the mark used by Jag and Prem, a kami team who joined BirGhorka for a time and then moved on, as kamis tend to do. Their mark was a circle, with rays emanating from it - four longer ones at the N, S, E, and W positions, with smaller ones between. Yours could be an unfinished mark.

Their "final exam" knife was the first Chitlangi, which Yvsa grabbed in an inspired mouse attack, and still has, I am sure:D They did outstanding blades. I still have a 14" J&P Sirupati with a full convex edge that will shave strips from a Kleenex after a bit of stropping.

Surely you've heard of him?

"O Kami boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling....

From Glen to Glen, and down the mountain side.

The summer's gone and all the roses falling;

It's you, it's you must go and I must bide.

"But come ye back when summer's in the meadow,

Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow

I'll be there in sunshine or in shadow;

Oh Kami Boy, oh Kami Boy, I love you so!"

stuff of legend, I tell you.

It's the mysterious and never-seen "naught" kami--

Some say he's related to the kamis-with-no-name, but nobody knows for sure.

Yup!!!! You're right Bro.:D
Outstanding blades are right!!!! Regretfully my first HI Chitlangi, 22"+, doesn't have a convex edge, but it's super fast, super light for its size and not unquietly screams WEAPON!!!! It cuts like a much heavier kukri as does the BGRS along with a couple of others.:D
Like getting more bang for your buck so to speak.;)

But as to your question Philthy..... Depends on where the "O" is located. Some of the khukris are stamped with an "O" at the end of the Sword of Shiva. This isn't a kami's mark, but merely a decoration.
I have a few kukris with just such a stamp. Now if the "O" is located near the bolster it probably signifies something else. IF the "O" is about 1/8" diameter then it could be the beginning of J & P's kami mark.
Sure wish they had of stuck around and even moreso hope they weren't tied up with the Maoists, but if they were then doubly glad they're gone as they may have had some influence over the old tried true HI kami's.:(
Methinks J & P's mark was to complicated to be made into just one stamp and me also thinks it was put on one step at a time.:)

AHA!! My 'o' is at the end of the sword of Shiva, between the tip and the HI mark. So there really isn't any kami mark at all!

It's nice though: It has course 'checkering' on the handle and a Yin/Yang inlay on both sides. There is also inlay in the sword of Shiva. This thing is as thick across the spine as my 18" AK, which makes it almost too heavy for me.

Will post pics soon. Now that I got my internet access back up and running. :)

I gots one of thems. It's a village model. Not HI but sold by Uncle bill.

(the one with the "O" at the end of the sword of shiva.)

Also have a couple with a circle almost surrounded by points like a star.

Philthy I was down over a month when my motherboard went out. About went nuts and probably would've if I hadn't of visited my sister in law's computer a few times.;)
Had I of bought the 3 year insurance I wouldn't have had to bought another tower.
But the improvement is well worth the $573.00 + it cost me. I'm loving the Pentium 4, 2.2 processor, 80 Gb hard drive and 512 MB of RAM and also the Windows XP over the ME system!!!!

Good to hear you got a nice machine. It's incredible how much you can get for your cash nowadays. I'll bet that setup is lightning fast compared to your old one.

I finally got my internet hooked up at home yesterday so I am back in business! :)

Going on a 3 day Geology field trip into Northern Ontario for the weekend in 5 minutes so gotta run!

Cya later,
Phil
