I was wondering what kind of operating system you guys use on a computer? Around the time I became interested in knives, I started to use GNU/Linux Fedora 19 Gnome/Cinnamon alongside with Windows 7 (I'll delete Windows and install a Debian disto) because I hated the limited choices you can do on windows. I hope this topic isn't too off topic since this is mainly a knife fourm, not a tech fourm.

My three primary computers (home, travel, and office) are all Windows XP. I did build a new dedicated photo machine recently with Windows 7 Professional, and love it.

I have also used many different operating systems over the years, even dual-booting several from the same machine. BeOS, QNX, Linux, BSD, and many others.
Among the computers upstairs in 'the collection' there are machines that boot Windows 3.1, DOS, classic MacOS, Windows 95, and others.

My primary ones are all Win 7 Pro but I also dabble with Linux now and then and I still have a dvd with several Virtual Pc's of the old OS's like Win 95, Dos, Win 3.1 etc. :)

I also had a mac or two but didn't use them much so I passed them on. :)

I use Windows 7 on my two work computers and Mac OS X on my MacBook pro at home. I also have a Nexus tablet which runs Android. I'm in IT and have experience with them all. Linux distro's are neat but don't fit in my busy life.

I use 21.5" iMac with a 2.7GHz Intel Core 15 processor, 16GB of memory and the software is OS X version 10.9.

I've got three boxes that still spin up. Win7 64b, WinXp 32b, and an old Win2k. Got a dvd laying around here somewhere with a bootable Linux thing on it, but I don't play with it much.

FYI, I posted in the latest PIF thread some desktop ram if anyone needs some older stuff!

My latest desktop is Windows 7, that's the first MS OS I have purchased in almost 20 years. I have a Mac, but all the rest are Linux, been using Linux full time since 1997. I usually build Linux myself, but have been playing with Ubuntu lately.

All mine are on Win xp Pro,except the netbook running Win XP home. Planning to go to Win 7 64 bit on new build.

Macbook Air dual boot with OSX and Win 8.

As a longtime Microsoft user the Mackbook Air OSX was / is easier to use than to learn Win 8.

Running Win 8.1 on this box.

Win Vista on one box and one laptop.

XP on two other boxes, and Win 7 on my laptop.

I like 7 the best, and I'm getting used to 8.1. There was a bit of a learning curve with 8.1, but it really isn't that bad. The desktop is the same as the others, and with the exception of the start menu, it runs pretty much like Win 7.
