I'm about to go back to working on my Dad's '97 Harley that we have custom built. We took it from plain parts, had the parts painted, then did a ton of custom stuff. We're redoing the paint job, and so we have to reinstall everything, get the electrical and plumbing going, and then give it a test ride. We're finishing putting on the gas tank, and while we still have the finishing to do, it won't be too long. Only problem is that he's headed of to D.C. for 6 days. Anyway, I'll get the specs, but no one could possible tell that this has been running for 7 years, and isn't brandnew.
What about yall's bikes?

Don' Got one...maybe someday.. ;)
Sounds purty neat Peyton, howsa bout pics? Just go to www.tinypic.com and put the pic there. post the stuff with the tags around it in your thread, and we'll be able to see it! :D

Hey thanks, I'll try and get the pics soon, but we still have a few touch ups. Ya know that the legal riding age is 15 right?

I have a barn fresh 1966 Triumph Thunderbird that I gave $300 for. I traded for an old aftermarket Amen Saviour rigid rear frame with coffin tank, z bars and a devils tail sissy bar. (whole bike minus motor) It is all pretty rough. I put everything together for this mockup pic but I have it all apart now. I may buy a big, obnoxious aftermarket frame but not sure. I like the whole low bobber look of this but the hard tail laid in a barn on it's side and is rusty and pitted enough I worry about it being safe. It's definitely all still "old skool". I may go with the stock triumph tank also because it makes the bike look a lot lower.
I think Indian George may have a cool Honda. :D

Cool. I got a couple ratbikes myself. Thinking of letting them go. I got way too many projects.

I think the Portuagee God of Fire is going to ascend on you TOO Trick. HEHEHE!!!!
My first scoot was a 1967 Triumph Bonney I got in 1969
Next was my Indian Chief I in bought 1972 for $900 in baskets.
Then in 1986 my best friend died and left me his 1985 Softail.
I do the majority on the work on them, expect the balancing and blue printing of the motor. My Softail is the first year for the Evo motor and for the Softail frame. It has a four speed tranny with kicker and all chain drive. I done allot modification on the HD to much to mention.
I do all my own painting and airbrush work. My webshots have pic's of the bikes.:D :D
Higgy; How about the rice that you got????? :barf: :barf:

I have been riding full size motorcycles for about 55 years now so about 20 years ago I desided I would rather ride them than work on them so I switched to Gold Wings and they have not failed me yet. I now have an '89 1500 that I put 110K miles on and have only put tires, brake pads and a battery on so far. My friends that ride them tell me it's just broke in and as easy as it starts and runs I believe them. I hear remarks about riding Jap bikes but Wings are made in Ohio and always have been so talk is cheap from the uninformed.

First full size I bought was a used '49 Harley. A bunch of us all had motorcycles and we all rode together and brought along girl friends and to say the least we had a hell of a good time.

I have had a lot of bikes over the years and they all gave me good service but some sure rode better than others. My son took my advice and started out with a Road Star 1700 which is a large bike and he is happy he did. With the club I ride with we go on a number of 300 to 400 mile one day rides and it is sure more comfortable on a heavy bike that has lots of horse power.

I admit I had several Harleys. Started when I was 14 on a 125. That was in 1953, before most on this list were hatched! I had a 61, that's not a 1961 but a 61 cube inch. Some years ago I bought a used BMW from the Palm Beach PD and traded it in '85 for a new R80RT that I still ride and enjoy.
My wife still says that I drive a car like I'm riding a bike.

Can I help??????
:D :D Mosaic rocker boxes would really be outstanding.

Wouldnt Jesse James be jealous? Really anything you can forge. grind and shape could be made from damascus with an outstanding finish treatment. Ive always thought damascus has more uses than just on knives and guns. I spent a couple days over at Ed Schemps hous a couple winters ago, He has a big custom made rolling mill. There were about 30 of us there making a 36" globe of the world from all damascus. The stand for the globe is also forge welded. You will get to see the poject soon I think in the magazines. Anyway my motorcyle may weigh about 2000 pounds!

By the way, I'm refering to real bikes. A Hyabusa is the borderline. Beamers are okay, but as I said, no other rice burners than the hyubusa (if it is one, it had better be tricked out!)

Man, I'd love to see a damascuss bike. Blued tank, oldschool fender, who knows what you could do. Take and put those parts on an old Harley, and we'd have a classic. Theoretically, if you could do one part, which would it be? I would just buy a tri- bar head light. Not enough forging and metal shaping experiance.

hope this works, otherwise, do a web search.
fastest street legal bike.
bmw makes bikes too, and many of them are nice.

OK!!! My son had a piece of rice like that. I told him I would race him in the 1/4 mile with my 1947. But he would have to give me a bikes length for ever year differences in age. He didn't take me up on it. :D :D

How fast?? BTW, I know practically nutin about bikes. What the heck is a rice burner?? :footinmou :footinmou I can't believe I'm this ignorant!

Those crotch rockets are crazy. When it comes to riding I stick with horses, but I've got some friends who are into it and are always drooling over Hyabusas. Damn thing can do 65 in first gear, and it has 6!Top speed is over 200mph. Just a bunch of titanium and carbon fiber around a 2 stroke motor.

I've seen an illegal one do 235, but the normal ones can go around 210. The thing about bikes is that they don't nead lead signs, but other than that, bikes and horses are pretty similar.

Brian- a rice burner is either a Japanese or Chinese bike (China is only just getting started in this kinda thing though). Think- lotsa rice in those areas- it's justa joke about the bikes running on rice.
