Just got another call from Stella. Now it has been confirmed that Jessica has blood in her stool again which means inflammation in what little gut she has left.
The Dr. is going to have another CT scan done tomorrow and they're going to do a camera scope again in which Jessica swallows a tiny camera in a capsule so the Dr. can see what's going on from the inside.
The Dr. and Stella are also talking about doing a gastric tube so that Jessica can be fed as she still isn't eating right.
And I just found out something I'm not too sure about. :grumpy: Come to find out Jessica isn't aware of the severity of her illness and that she might die from it.:(
Consequently Jessica is more concerned about her weight and looking good than she is taking care of herself.
I know that Jessica is slow and doesn't always understand things well but damnit nobody and especially a kid shouldn't be allowed to have false hope IMO but maybe Stella knows best, hell I don't know. All I know is that this is wearing me down mightily and I don't know how Stella is holding up.
I learned one helluva lesson about kids and trying to shield them from hurtful things a long time ago with my son. Since then I never withheld the truth from any of my kids no matter how painful or distasteful the subject was. Kids know, usually, it's just that Jessica isn't the usual kid.:(
Jessica is and has been the truly sheltered child, I don't know if that's a bad or good thing.:grumpy:

Edit:
Also the yeast infection is in her incision now as well as around the soma and it is weeping.
And there's probably more that I can't think of right now, just a bunch of little things on top of the severe issues.

I don't know what to say except Jessica is totally innocent in God's sight. At this point I wouldn't want to scare her. Stella is very brave and I'm sure that she knows whats best. Trusting God to do whats right is all we have. That and prayer. I wish there was something I could do but its beyond any of us.

Prayers for you, Jessica, Stella and her Dad.

Kids always thing they're immortal. That's bad when they're driving a car and deciding if there's enough time to get across the railroad tracks. It's probably just as well now.

Smoke continues...

smoke and prayers. I feel helpless. Please let us know if there any more we can do.

aww jeez, this is heart breaking news. :(

Jessica is an unusual kid with a truly miserable disease...only Stella can evaluate all the information and pass on what she thinks is best for Jessica.

Being a sufferer of this awful disease (tho thankfully not nearly as severe) my heart goes out to all involved. :(

She must be one mighty tough young woman.

In some ways it is comforting that she is more concerned with her looks and weight. Maybe it is her own way of distancing herself from the disease.

Lighting some more smoke as we speak...

Good luck to you too, Yvsa.

Sorry for all of your worry and grief.
Most of us don't like to think about young kids getting sick.
Are the doctors certain about the diagnosis?
Just what is the prognosis? Is it too early to tell?

Sorry to hear of these developments. So very sad

Your family remains in my thoughts Yvsa................................
