I have a direct link to the forum on my desktop and after I load Outlook and HI then I open the Community in a new window so as too make it easy too get between all three.

When I come too the HI Forum I click on Uncle Bill's sticky Safety thread about every ten days or so that it will show up as a thread I've already read, turns blue for me.
Then I keep it right at the top of my page so I always know where I am.
Just one of my foibles about doing things a certain way.;)

Anyway most generally the word READING as in REQUIRED READING is always a line down from the others.
And when it is like that the print is of a large enough size that I don't have too strain my eyes too read the forum.
Today in spite of rebooting and doing every thing else I know too do the sentence is all on one line thereby reducing the size of the print overall.
Any suggestions as too what may be going on and how I can enlarge the text?
I have it set to "Largest" in the place under "View" in the tool bar.
Sometimes it just changes too be contrary I think but in spite of all I do today it still remains one size too small.:grumpy:

A few years back MauiRob turned me onto an easy way too read the forum that is quicker than clicking the forum each time and waiting it too reload.

Rob said too open each post in a new window and then when you're done reading that thread all you have too do is close it and open the next one in a new window. Very Simple.:)

After you've caught up on a thread you can click on the box by the last poster's name and open the new window at the last post. Then simply scroll up too where you finished reading before and you are good too go. Works for me anyway and is much, much, easier than the way I used to do it and this way it eliminated all the double posts I used too get years ago.:D

Just thought it might be of help too the new guys and gals posting here these days.:D ;) :p

not sure i really understand what you mean, but here are two options -
Thanks but that would drive me nuttier than I already am.;)
It may just be something temporary that may correct itself in a couple of days. If not I guess I can always restore it too an earlier date when it was like I like it too be.
Thanks again.:D

i see, well what i do is use a program which you may or may not be familiar with called firefox. its a browser that has "tabs" so i can, for example, go to a forum and maybe see 4 threads i'm interested in. i would then click my scroll wheel on each thread which opens a small tab per thread (all in the same window though) its basically the same thing you do but without having a bunch of windows or cluttering up the taskbar. there was a thread around recently about firefox converts :D btw, firefox is intrinsically (damn it took me 5 minutes to try and remember that word :footinmou ) popup free since popups are written for IE etc.

I don't use tabs in Firefox browser (avaliable for free at http://www.mozilla.org ) myself because i too am the "New Window" fan :) But it deos have "minimum text size" setting - perhaps you should try it out and tune it the way you like it ? Firefox is highly adjustable, with "skins" and all.

hi y'all

hi, see you've already tried the IE view-text size thingy. if you use firefox it lets you set it REALLY big, and it works with the forum, couldn't get ie6
to display big enuff either. Firefox rules!

Downlad Firefox. You will never go back. To make the text as big as you want (using Firefox), hold down the Ctrl key and pull down on your mouse's scroll wheel. It'll just get bigger and bigger.

Or you can hit <control><+> or <control><->.

Yvsa: You can also fool with your resolution and font sizes. Right-click on the desktop to get the menu, select Properties, and go to the Settings tab. A higher resolution makes everything smaller (bad), but lets you have more stuff on the screen at once (good). On the Appearance tab, there's a setting to change font size. If you decide to change these, you may want to make a note of what your original settings were. There are so many combinations that you can fiddle with this for too much time and not have anything better.

I don't know why these would have changed on you. That concerns me a bit.

... and if you want to stick with internet explorer:

Some websites have "hard-coded" the size of their text and as a consequence these websites will not reflect the change you have just made. If you would like your preferences to be reflected on other sites you visit please follow these steps:
  1. Open the Tools menu with the mouse or by pressing Alt+T.
  2. Select the Internet Options option with the mouse or by pressing O.(see fig1, below)
  3. Select the Accessibility button with the mouse or by pressing Alt+E.(see fig 2, below)
  4. Check the "Ignore font sizes specified on web page" checkbox with the mouse or by pressing alt+Z.
  5. Select the OK button twice with the mouse or by pressing Enter twice.

Is it me or professional jealousy?

I d/l'ed Firefox and it seems great for eveything except hotmail...it simply shows a blank screen...

Ideas?

.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions gang.
I appreciate it,
never have enough.;)

I fixed it. I changed the font over too Tacoma and although I really don't like the format I do have to admit that it is larger and therefore easier too read than the New Times Roman which I prefer.:D/:grumpy:
It'll take some gettin used too but I'll manage it.;)

As too the Firefox.:grumpy:.......
I have tried, really tried too like it but even though I have downloaded it a couple of times and I just flat outright Do Not Like It! :p
For me it is just plain unhandy and personally I think it takes up too much of the screen, leaving less for the message board for me too see, but obviously YMMV.:D

And I don't get Popups..... Ever! :D
I have the Free Panicware Popup Stopper and it works like a dream.
You can disable it by merely clicking the ctrl button when one tries too appear. I have too do that when bestowing rep points on all y'all because of the drop down box.
And with the two antivirus programs and the four spyware programs I haven't been having any trouble at all....
Knock on Wood!!!!:D

You might need to turn on javascript and/or java. Not certain.

Nope...tried that. I think they don't like Billy Gates.

Thanks for the link on Firefox. It works great and seems faster than IE to me.

Works OK on Hotmail too. Nasty, maybe the popup blocker or some other "switch" is causing your problem???

I switchd over to it and Thunderbird for email about a month ago or so, so far much less trouble with viruses. Only problem is some sites have issues with Firefox (Microsoft preferred) and I have troubles with installing a plugin. Other than that...

I am a Mac user, but Explorer seems limited to 300%.
Netscape lets you set the magnification when you go to "other" under the view menu.
Good luck with your eyes - you may want less magnification pretty soon.
