I was was looking for additional photos and info on Spanish Special Forces bolo, and found a terrific site loaded with thousands of photos of Spain's Special Forces at work and in training.

Here are a few of the photos showing linking the knives to the troops

And here is a link to the main verteran association site. Just keep clicking on the links, plenty of photos and details; Including detailed survival training, official unit photos of all retired special forces personnel, mountaneering - yikes!, and seal/scuba.

There are links to similar site from other countries too. Who wants to volunteer to set one of these up for the Ghukas?

I think I would rather ride inside the helecopter; but heck that is just me. :D:rolleyes:

I recall seeing a photo of Ghurkas hanging from the skids on a Westland Scout like that during the Falklands War in the early 80s.

Thanks for the links!

Using bolo knives to butter their bread...

If you thought the Limbo was tuff.....I guess they raise the bar on this one (jumping over knives)

Damn, that bread looks good right now!

Maybe with some melted butter and sweet strawberry jam, along with rich, dark coffee and crisp fried bacon; maybe some eggs fried over-easy to dip the bread in.

Then to sit back, loosen your belt, and tell lies.

ahhhhhhh.

Oh, to be young and stupid again...*sigh*

The caption to that photo reads:

Salto sobre machetes en una exibición con motivo del "Día de las FAS"

Translation:

A leap over machetes as part of an exhibition during an Arm Forces Day celebration.

That bread...is that one loaf per soldier?

I wish that I got fed like that. Actually, it's probably better that I'm not.

N2S, good stuff here and elsewhere...but I don't care what anyone says, I will continue to use my pommel/buttplate/whatever's there as a hammer. I'm honestly surprised at how hard it is to find a decent rock sometimes. :)

Satori?

Something burbled up from the back of my mind telling me that the Roman Legion troops' main food was bread, maybe with fruit. Meat wasn't the main course it is today (in my world, anyway.)

Dunno where I heard that.

But ... you could be a Roman!
