When I went for my Pre-Op last Wednesday my surgery was tentatively canceled due to some heart abnormalties. I didn't want to say anything here until I found out for sure what was up and now I know and so do y'all.;)
This is an email I sent to my family and friends just before I came to the HI Forum and to save time and typeing I thought I would just post it instead of a whole new explanation. It's been a long day and I'm tired and lazy.;)

Well we finally made it back from the Dr. and the Cardiologist after leaving the house this morning at 9:45 a.m. and just getting back at 5:00 p.m.

I have a swollen lymph gland that would have canceled the surgery anyway so I guess it’s just a matter of sh*t happens.;)

The nurse at Pre-Op said, “No infections in the body anywhere or the surgery wouldn’t be done.”

And if that wasn’t enough to stop the surgery then the result of the visit to the Cardiologist today damned sure was.

After going over some old history and talking for a bit I started having some chest tightness right then and there and he had the nurse run an EKG.

I was having Arterial Fibrillations!!!! Can’t think of a better place to have your heart screw up than in your cardiologist’s office.:D
Needless to say he was somewhat concerned. After a little more serious discussion about the what, ifs and wherefores, he scheduled me for an Angioplasty for first thing in the morning. I have to be at the hospital no later than 7:00 a.m. and the procedure will be done at 8:00 a.m.

In 2001 I had a 40% blockage of the main line going into the heart and a 30% in the one leaving the heart.

A couple of other arteries had 85% and 70% respectfully.

Dr. K said that 50% - 70% in the main line in meant you were going to have a bypass surgery that could be done in a day or two.

If it is 75% or greater then bypass surgery will be done immediately if not sooner.

The stent and ballooning isn’t done on the main line into the heart, too dangerous.

So anyway I have to get up early again in the morning and it appears that my haircut that I was going to have in the morning may be delayed a while.;)

And I’ll have to set and smell the coffee that Barb gets to drink while I can’t have one let alone my morning Coke, poor me.:grumpy:

The good thing is I can take my pain meds with a small sip of water.

Things will be fine methinks.:D

So anyway if I'm not back by sometime tomorrow they did an angioplasty and kept me overnight. If I'm not back by the next day then they did a heart bypass and I'll be back as soon as I'm allowed, that is if things go as expected.:foot:

Yvsa, I wish you the best of luck. Our hearts and thoughts will be with you.

Yvsa,

Take care of yourself and we will lift you up in our prayers here. We'll be thinking of Barb, too. She has to put up with you all the time ;) Get well soon!!!!

Best of luck, Yvsa. We'll be thinking of you, and burning small, smelly sticks.

Hang tough, Yvsa.

Glad to know I'm not the only one drinking soda for breakfast. :D

Get ready to feel better. Going to fire up the new resin burner in your honor.

You'll do fine, Yvsa. Good luck, man. I can smell the coffee and Vicodin from here... :D

Good luck with the op, and let us know how it turned out. Also, are there any nice nurses involved? ;) Hang tough.

Smoke,

Nam

Yvsa, when it rains, it pours. My old man finally made it out the hospital a month later, two operations, three interventions, yee gads, and he's just now starting to come round.

God speed and good luck when your time is ready. We'll pray for you.
