Looks kinda Filipino to me.
Although a shotgun with birdshot might be more appropriate at that range. Snakes are really hard to hit unless they are within striking range.

I dunno guys, that critter has more of a dinosaurish look about him. More like a plesiosaur, but if so, how did he get up in those mountains? I guess that too is something Man Was Not Meant to Know That knife looks kind of like a 'smatchet', plenty good for the purpose.
