O V B . . Schrade made in late 1940s early 1950s

Not with those markings. Do you have one to show, A.G?

will have to photograph them. I think that I will let my widow sell these.

I have never heard of O V B marked Schrade pocket knives before.

Never seen one, but Goins says it was Hibbard, Spencer and Bartlett trademark 1884-1969 (not sure when Camillus began using it), so it would be likely Schrade Walden made knives for them in the timeframe you indicate. Interestingly, HS&B was the precursor of True Value Hardware which was started when John COtter bought their operations in 1962. Did Cotter use the O.V.B. marks? HS&B used the True Value mark (1930-1959...also Goins).

I've seen a HS&B scout knife from the mid-twenties that was a dead ringer for the Ulster scout knife of the same era. had OVB Scout on the shield and OVB on the tang. I think whoever they contracted out to (Schrade , Ulster, or Camillus) made identical tangs.

These are tang marked Schrade Walden but the mark side of the main blade is mirror polished and etched O V B and the shield is deeply impressed O V B ? ? ?

That's interesting, I've seen Schrade Walden stamped Keen Kutters(like the Keen Kutter 100th anniversary), but never OVB.

Actually The Walden Knife Company made the old Keen Kutters as well. Here is a pic from a 1924 Winchester-Simons catalog.

I've seen mentioned on the web when reasearching knives that, some blades actually had " OUR VERY BEST " incsribed on the blades as well as just " OVB "
If I can locate info I will post it.
