Photos of this small Japanese style short sword have been posted before and I'll not trouble you with them again. But I am sharing the last two pics with you to announce closure has finally been brought to the project. The saya was embellished with buffalo horn (no red marks, but some gray swirly stripes do show) components, a black lacquer paint job, and a brown sageo fancily knotted on it. It's not really good looking, but for the first endeavor, I'm happy with it. One thing is for certain, though, by creating this little gem, Bookie has learned that this type of work is not for the faint of heart and he ain't-a gonna do it again!

Bookie is a VIP HERO.
Outstanding.
An O-Waki with great execution. I'd wield that.
So much hard work!

I'm going to have to get off my un-knifemaking rear end.

I believe that as well. When we met he had a really cool Razorback logo on his suitcase. I mentioned how cool it was and asked who did it. His wife was quick to say he did it. I should of have thought of that before I exercised my jaw.

The man gots talent. I thought of him as I watched forged in fire for the very first time last night. Not a bad show but Bookie could have buried them all, no contest.

And dude! That hat, that is so you and so cool I'm near crying here. We're talking styling Corn Patch Kami here.

Well done on the blade too, you've kept me somewhat appraised as it came along and it was an absolute ton of work.

You never cease to amaze me.

Send me the 20 bucks, I need the money soon.

Your closer geographically, Washington taxes and so on, hence the reduction in travel voucher.

From the tip of the top hat to the tip of the Kojiri those photos show off the incredible style as well as the ability of MANY skill sets. (Keep in mind that usually one person makes the blade. One polishes (sharpens & shapes), One the Koshirae and another the Saya at a MINIMUM) and Bookie did it ALL himself and did each piece exceptionally well. A blade that truly represents it's maker/owner perfectly.

Man, that is BEAUTIFUL! Good Job Bookie! You are an artisan for real.

Personally I dig the hat. Not trying to be Debbie Downer but my passed son loved halloween, he always wore a similar hat but with a much taller crown and of course it was Irish green. He was a hoot. If I can find a picture I'll post it. I know he'd be laughing from above. Again, not trying to derail the thread, just Bookie reminded me of such.

Thanks to all for your kind comments. No more blades from Corn Patch.

BB, this is my second hat. Ye good doctor sometimes needs to be attired nattily. No smithy hat here! The first was an 1840s bell crown in green. I used to wear it on my fav holiday-Halloween. When Ed Rutledge passed away, his wife said he wanted her to ask if he could be buried with it. Couldn't have an old Irishman not go out in style. Now. Answer me this: Who is this Debbie Downer?

I fear you might know the mythical Debbie Downer, the terminally oppressed queen. I dare say this my friend, if you enter the pearly gates and a very handsome 6-2 Irish looking lad with a similar green hat and a bass voice and contagious laugh meets you, it will be my Jonathan. I sent him my prayer but, I might meet you there as well if all goes as planned.

You okay? Not trying to be alarmist, but I know how life can get, and have too many friends with depression. If you need something, we're all here for you.

Double this BB. Your scaring me badly here. You got my email. Use it if you need it. No more talking like this.
Got it?

I don't want to steal an excellent thread. Please.

If you ever need help, just speak up. You're more important to us than a thread on Bookie's very cool O-Wak.

And that is very cool Bookie. Could we see more pictures?

You guys get off that stuff. My posts are not anything special and the intention is for enjoyment, so steal away. You will not upset me unless: You get between me and my Guinness & Butterfingers, stick those chocolate covered fingers in me haggis, or tell me that Bawanna's Curved Spine is more gooder than mine. So beware.....my current project is a full one eighth scale thermo-nuclear mosquito/back yard denizen exterminator capable of creating instant karma after the initial 1,600,000 voltage surge gets to you as the plastic siding melts off your double-wide. Still has bugs in it, though. I can only get it to work at a 12 mile radius at the moment. The wife hates it....frizzes her hair pert bad!

I'd like an over-engineered bug zapper. Fly problems.

Also thanks for the word of the day: nattily
