O1 bowie

Wow, I like it. I've been wanting to make a Bowie myself recently, but I have heat treating problems at the moment. I'm going to build myself a small, makeshift forge tonight...

Back to your knife. I think the beauty is in the simplicity. What's the blade made from?

Hi Sam,

Yeh, my press is built, unfortunately it's still at my work. The gears-of-progress grind pretty ssssllllloooowww around here :) :) . My shop needs a good cleaning before I move it in.

Whoa, Luke - that's sweet! I really like that blade, just what a Bowie is meant to be. Thanks for sharing,

Is it through tang with the butt cap screwed on?, if not, how'd you attach the butt?? What's the blade thickness at the ricasso?

always curious...

regards, mitch

Bill, actually this particular bowie is not forged. Although I did heat treat it with that nc forge.

Mitch, the tang does go all the way through and the pommel is screwed on. The blade thickness is 7/32 at the ricasso.

Sam and Bruce, although I had hoped to make to Eugene this year, it doesn't look like I am going to make it.

Thanks all for the kind words.
