Hey,

I was hoping if someone could recommend a good O1 Bushcraft Knife. I'm looking for something in the 5-6 inch range. Not to big but something that will get the job done, and easier to carry.

Also, anyone know of any folders that are made of O1?

Thanks

Nguyen

Yup, I second Cliff about B. Goode. Solid, working blades that resemble the tools I grew up with here.

Does anyone of a OSF Knife made my Wheeler? I wonder how that knife stands up.

It has a Scandie Ground Right?

There are different versions, there is a complete description of it on the outdoors forum web site, and the knife was made for guys on the outdoor forum on Knifeforums so quite a few of them have them.

I have an original Wheeler OSF knive in 01 steel, it is a great cutter, but I perfer my Linger Bushcraft in S30V.

i have one of the OSF knives, nice cutter, is great in the hand, and was made for the owner, mine has a 4 inch blade, and ivory micarta handles, the feel of this type of blade in the hand makes it pretty comfortable to use, i have not handled one of roger linger's knives but they look pretty good also. he has been around this forum and has always shown us some pretty nice hardware.

LOL as soon as I saw '01' I said out loud Brian Goode. Looks like I wasn't the only one :D

Allan Blade makes 2 real good ones- the Bushcrafter and his Puukko. I use his O-1 Puukko all the time, much more than my more expensive knives.

I do not know if he is currently taking orders.

Many English custom/semi-custom produce woodlore clones.

Here original woodlore:
Original woodlore (balantly overpriced)
Wilkinson Swords' woodlore (overpriced, oop)

Here are a few ones: (enjoy creative naming for the very same knife):
Woodsmoke's Woodlander
Bearclaw Field Knife
bakk-knives' graduate
Stewart Marsh's bushcraft knife
Unknown Woodlore clone

Linger's one

etc
...

Quality might range from very good to average, if you're interested I'd suggest you check english "bushcraft" forums.

Excellent round-up of the Woodlore inspired, Brit Bushcraft-style of knives. But I'm surprised though you didn't add Bison Bushcraft to that list as well. They're also placed in high regard.

Yes I've heard of this and there are certainly other good ones (and other bad ones), but I did not mean to be exhaustive :)

Ouch! :thumbdn: Man... When Knife Makers go Bad... Super Sad.

There's certainly been some detractors that have had problems with Allan Blade, but both of my Allan Blade knives were purchased relatively recently and both transactions were flawless, with good communication and no hitches. He doesn't accept payment until the knife is made, and ships immediately. The knives are 2 of the best I own and were very reasonably priced. Based on my 2 transactions, I'd say he's turned over a new leaf. I read through those threads after buying my first knife from him, and thought long and hard about if I'd order the second. I did and haven't regretted it. The 01 Scandi Pack Pal is a great little bushcraft knife, though smaller than you're looking for. Caveat Emptor of course.

How about the plain old Ericsson Mora #1?

allen blade this fellow fell into some trouble, but over the past 2 years or so has seemed to get himself straightened out, he has delivered a bunch of knives, i understand that unfortunately he is overwelmed with work and is not taking any new orders at the moment. dont be too harsh, we have all made some mistakes in the past.

i would e mail him to check on his status.

This isn't true.

See the above link for details.

For prices of Goode's custom knives drop him an email.

They're about the same price as the rest of the Bushcraft Knives out there... His wait time at the moment seems to be about the same too..

However, Brian is a good guy, and i have a knife waiting with him now.. :) yay!

It was for my transactions with him, which is all I have to judge him by. Whether it's true or not for others, that's up to them to discuss. As I said in my post, Caveat Emptor, but that's true for any transaction.
