I sent six 112s to the spa about 6 weeks ago. I got them back. Here is the result for the one I had that was Oak with 5160 steel. It does look like they darkened the oak. However, I can't confirm that the lighting wasn't different on the "before" picture. Nevertheless, a nice improvement for about $7.

Edit: By the way, the knife didn't get looking like that on my watch. I purchased it that way.

yeah, I didn't even notice that. does that mean they ground a lot off?
It looks that way. I’ve seen brand new Bucks about the same. Its not the end if the world. Just my pet peeve.

In their defense at that price they can’t dedicate the time to sharpen by hand. They use a belt grinder.

Anytime your able to get something back from the spa that you spent fleamarket money on is a win in my world.
No doubt it’s a real bargain on a great service.

They do a wonderful job repairing and polishing for sure. Just ask them not to sharpen it.

Its a really nice knife. 5160 drop point 112? Not too many of them around. I’d use the heck out of it.

Sorry to make a negative spin on your thread. Also sorry to point it out, if you weren’t aware. It’s my pet peeve so I’m hyper sensitive to it. Most people would not be bothered in the least.

I am with ya. I have spent time going through displays trying to find new 110 and 112 folders that are not over sharpened like that as well.

There’s a lot of room for improvement in Buck’s edge department. Hopefully they get it figured out.

For what it's worth, the multiple 110s I acquired of 2021 vintage were all edged and sharpened about as perfectly as you can get from a factory. The person or persons who did the two I kept and the others I have as gifts was very skilled.

I have to admit that a subtle recurve doesn't bother me. Most of the Puma 110-clones of all sizes that I've seen in photos (including catalog images) all had slight recurves, so I kind of like the aesthetic. I don't like "losing" the steel, but in the big picture, it's not a big deal to me.

You’ve been lucky :)
looks can be deceiving. I’m not saying Buck doesn’t make em sharp.I’ve had very few 110‘s since about edge 2000 that had a good enough edge that wasn’t wavy and uneven requiring a lot o metal to be remove.Older bucks came with much better edges.Out of this little group below 5 needed hours to correct
