Obenauf,Ewing, and Carson!
Howdy y'all(hey, I've been down south for a week,hehe).

Got my new issue of Blade in the mail yesterday and Dexter has a great article about Mike Obenauf in it. Dex, great job, great pics, you nailed this one. I had the honor of spending the day with Mike and Kit at Kit's house a few days ago and really enjoyed meeting and talking with Mike and seeing his work. His work is really excellent and with his attitude it's only going to get better.

I'm going to post more about the visit later when I have more time but wanted to give you guys a heads up about the article.

Dex, great job, and Mike, congratulations!

Dave, you dog you :)(and to think I was getting mine early for three months in a row.) I can wait to see Dex's write up now and I bet some guy is at the post office going through my issue again. No tellin' when it will show up.

Sounds great! I look forward to seeing your comments.

I was trying to hold off reading mine, but now I'm going to stop everything and bust it out!

:)

Mikes stuff looks flat out awesome... Thats what you get when you have kit sitting there with a 12G SG watching you work!!...:D
I look forward to meeting Mike and Kristi at Blade Show... Its gonna be lots of fun for sure!

Great article Dex!

Nice insight to the story of Mike's growth as a maker.

Hard to believe he's been making for such a short time, Kit in the picture or not.

That would be pretty cool having a father-in-law with such a stance in knifemaking.

My girlfriend's dad is a great guy, but as far as knives go :) Everytime I show him one of my latest...he shows me one of his latest purchases from the Bud K catalog :D

Not complaining though, he's an electician and helped overlook me wiring my digital salt bath.

Back to the point...great article, great looking knives!!!

Looking forward to seeing them in Atlanta.

Dexter, please stop by and say hi if you have a minute (27-L) :)

Nick

Yes! Really good article!

Must be nice to hang out with Kit & Company huh Dave???

I'm not jealous at all....  :footinmou

Dex,
That's funny but true, the man's a slave driver.
At one point while I was there he asked me to go down range and fix the targets. Little did I know what he had in mind, making old Lifter dance. Here you can see him telling the missus:"wait till he gets a little farther, steady, just aim at his big butt, get ready...". Of course she's enjoying it and my buddy Mike O is just watching:D

Actually, we had a great time, Kit and his family are the nicest, most hospitable people you could ever meet. And everyone in the family is talented, just wait till you see his daughter Kristi's(spelling?) engraving!
I never did get to meet billyjoebobdan though:(

Would you buy a used car from these men?

Dex, we are going to have to meet, since we are in the same town and all, huh! Paul

Dave - Kit has a pretty kick ass place up there, huh? Did you have time to lounge around in his heated pool? I'm looking forward to going back for a visit this July...he said he's gonna teach me how to grind

Paul - feel free to email me anytime. You need to meet the rest of the knife nut guys here in town!

I love the way Kit has his neck stiffened up and chest pushed out in the pic with Dave, doesn't want to like scrawny next to Dave. That is pretty funny.

Glad you had a great time Dave. Now you just need to make it down to Atlanta to hang out with all of us at Blade.

As most people here probably already know, I'm pretty hip on Kit's knives too. If me and Dave got together at a show and decided to block of Kit's table to get first crack at the knives, it would take people 2 hours just to find a way around us :D

Kit's Daughter (Mike's wife) is doing some amazing things too - when we were over there last weekend for derby, she showed us her "scrapbook" of engraving work. Extremely impressive and substantial range of styles & design. I have a feeling many good things are going to be coming out soon.
