I just bought a used Oberland Arms knife, and I've got some questions: how should I deal with the loose detent? Basically, this knife has none; and the pivot is so loose the knife falls open if I hold it upside down. Did the factory not bend the the locking liner far enough, or make it "springy" enough? I don't want to bend it myself to increase tension, because I don't want the detent ball wearing out too soon.
I also need to find the pivot tool as well, the one I just bought didn't come with it. I Couldn't find it anywhere on the 'net. I can make a little Ti spanner for it, but I'd rather buy the factory-made tool.
I've seen the other threads here about the Oberland, and I'm pretty disappointed in it, to put it mildly. I have the Titan Defender Lightweight, and it's pretty much perfect. I thought it would be nice to have the other variation on that theme [the Oberland] but it's been kind of a letdown.
