Just got my Obenauf Model 3 in today's mail. I asked Mike to put ironwood scales on this fella. What a nice piece. Mike is certainly paying attention to his mentor and has the desire to do his personal best. I wanted the Ironwood to give it a nice look and to get away from the manmade materials. The combination of the knife style with the ironwood really makes a nice looking and classy piece. The folder has a nice snug snap when closing (something you don't find in a lot of folders at twice the price) and the fit and finish is something to be admired. I will post a pic of this little beauty in the gallery soon.

Sounds like a nice one; post those pics asap. I know what you mean about the positive closing detent. It's a really nice "snap!" when it closes. Good stuff!! :cool:

I had a Model 2 arrive today and it has barely left my hand for the past 6 hours. Great stuff.
 
I just recieved my second Obenauf a couple of days ago: A small #2 with a S30V blade with a thumb scallop:D :D :cool: . The handle material is the coveted desert sand color which complements my large #2 I originally bought a few months ago. Mike is a class act, just like his knives.

And here's news flash for ya, fellas. Mike is coming out with a large and small frame lock that he will be unveiling at this year's Blade Show. And just so ya'll know, the line starts behind me:p

PS. Any of you guys that have some of Mike's older work, you may want to consider sending your knife back to Mike for his thumb scallop--this feature really is a thing of beauty. It looks great and it really helps the gripping of the knife, as well as making the opening of the blade fluid.
 
How about a pic of the thumb scallop? I'm planning on sending my #1 back to Mike for ironwood scales anyway, so I might as well get any other upgrades done while it's there.
A framelock, huh?

And just talked to Mike Saturday to order a 'more special' #1:rolleyes:

BTW, Barry, I had coffee and did a knife deal with StJames Friday and the first framelock is his;) Of course he's gone to Europe for a couple weeks so maybe...
 
How is it that James gets all the kool stuff first?
When I talked to Mike last week, he made it sound like he is working on a few large and small framelocks for the Blade Show. And that's when he is going to start taking orders. No doubt Mike will sell out of what he brings this year:)
