Was planning to get myself a Vulcan, but hold back after reading about its unhealthy appetice for human fingers. Then this fierce beast caught my attention with its mutated look, and I might order one in the autumn. Just wonder how many of them are produced per run/season/year. Any input will be more than welcome, thanks in advance.

Obese Cat? I'm confused.

FATCAT

Thanks for killing the humor;)

I think it looks great, but comes with a pretty hefty price tag, for me at least.

I would be seriously tempted if it was about $100 less and had G-10 instead of kraton on the handle.

If you get one, let us all know how you like it!

Thanks for the link.

I have seen it listed for even less than that, although it hasn't hit the shops yet.

So I meant $100 less than the cheapest price I have seen. I mean, for my personal uses, in my opinion $300 is a lot to pay for a big folding knife that I in all actuality will probably not use all that often. To each his own...

However, I do have a close eye on the Stingray w/ carbon fiber pattern ;)

So you're looking for a user's knife? Go for the Kiku, 50 pieces in total, good price ($2500, and don't think you can get any cheaper :D:D:D)

I'm pretty excited about the spirit, kinda looks like CS Bushman (I've got both the regular and bowie), definitely better finish. Dunno if it's as tough as the Bushman, and seems less capable as a cutting tool due to the spear-orientation.

$340 is the lowest I can find on proven honest dealers, one might lower the price of the knife, but charges more for shipping. Most likely this one is gonna be delayed as X'mas present (from&to myself :p), as I've already ordered more than €200 of knives from Böker and hongering for more Chad Los Baños, plus EKI CQC 8/12. *sigh*Dang, more knives added to the list than I can fininsh*sigh*

PS. I know it's bad for me the get this knife - once started, more(ArcTech) will follow- but man, who can resist this mutant? "It's alive!!!"

SOG's Kraton isn't that bad, at least better than CS's Kraton. I'm content with the Kraton on my Field Pup, and given the MSRP $60 comparing to the $570 of the FatCat, the finish must be better... hopefully ;)

2nd SOG clip featuring the FatCat, notice the band-aid on Mr Frazer's thumb ;)

Thanks for the link, nice way to spend a few hours (my internet connection is slow) :).

I have to agree that the only thing I'm worried about is the price. Looks like the toughest folder in SOG and I want it! Perhaps they could use cheaper materials (blade steel no less than AUS 8a though) and produce an economy option?

Perhaps a lovely (50-75%) discount for BF members? :)

50-75% of MSRP or real retail price?;) Don't think it's gonna happen, unless the BF membership requires prestige and payment:jerkit:

About the AUS 8, who the heck wants/will make an AUS 8 core SanMai? :p The bolster is crafted out a single piece of titanium, so the bolster and the VG-10 core SanMai blade are the main contributors to the costs IMHO. Besides, if you lower the costs thus using cheaper material, it will definitely take away all the exclusive charme of such a blade. The seemlingly impossible accessibly adds the sublimeness. (difficult words:confused:)

Yeah, pointless going for a Aus 8 core for san mai, better go for VG10 (like my japanese cooking knifes, wonderful by the way), s90v or ZDP189.

The blade of the overweight cat is laminated? what i meant is a full AUS8a blade. Though it may be misunderstood as core AUS8a :)

I'm ok with charmless knives since in my underpaid condition I prefer having a resonably designed fat cat than not affording one at all! But this is just me, living in my 3rd world country here :)

Regarding the discount thing, it never hurts to try right :)

Lol, you might consider the Vulcan (if the liner-issue is solved) or the TomCat 3.0, very cost/quality effective. Both have the Arc-lock and single piece VG-10 blade. Vulcan at about $90 and TomCat $140. With your super duper discount it will be $12.50/25 for the Vulcan and $35/70 for the TomCat.

I've spent almost a year waiting in EBay and scouting the for sale section for a good deal on a SOG Pentagon Elite II, Spec Elite II, Vulcan, Tomcat, and new in the list is the felinus fatass (stupid latin). My budget is actually 50 inc. delivery and I'm ok with a reasonably good condition user :(.

Well I don't mind, it is something to do in my free time (scouting for deals). :D

PS: Vulcan for 25!!! Point me and I shall spend...

I spent a lot of time watching nearly every video. Watch one of the Spyderco ones talking about their new Citadel auto... towards the middle it is one of the most awkward moments I have ever seen! Hilarious.

"You should buy one"....

"okay...."

Definitely gonna get (at least) 2 Baliyos.

Funny thing he (re-)introduced the folks every time for a new clip, damn that's irritating. "Hi this is XXXXXX XX of XXX", repeat that 4 more times for Mr Buck. Boy he's got some controle, with all the knives within reach... :D

Didn't pay attention at that one, but re-watched it now. And look what I found.:eek::eek:

Seletively citing the same clip after the auto:

"...index finger thru the hole..."
"... it feels good..."
"... that's the purpose of the hole..."
"... untill you're ready to get it out..."
"... i'll let you put that in there, once it's in, doesn't matter which direction, you can do it by feel..."
"... it releases your index finger automaticly as it's in the hole..."

Is it me or have they hired the wrong scriptwriters? Sounds like they are talking about GOLF.

PS if this doesn't get me banned, the Spydie-nuts are gonna hunt me down with the Baliyo.:jerkit::jerkit::jerkit:

PS... again:
OFF TOPIC!!!
