I have owned two Bucklite Max knives, and they have both served me for years. My first Bucklite Max was actually my first folding knife, and I got a second one because they have served me so well. Recently, I lost the second knife and I wanted to post a commemorative thread about discontinued Buck knives. What old Buck knives do you have? Please post pictures and possibly a story if you've got one!

I had no clue the bucklite max series was discontinued, that really sucks.
I absolutely love my 482 and it served me very well every single day for 2 straight years.
It's still going strong, but I have gone more traditional for now so I now only carry it every once in a while.

My best info indicates that yes, they are discontinued, but I may be wrong...

Ok, so the series was not discontinued, but the particular knife I got (just like yours) was, according to my research on the Buck site itself. Now you can just buy the ‘large’ version or one with a gut hook.

Funny, I just came in from the shop and saw this thread. I was out there looking for my 2 dot 112 that I bought from the ships store aboard the USS Camden in 1978. It's been rode hard and put up wet but I was a mere boy when I bought it and a knife was to use. It served me well as a hammer, can opener, pry bar and other things both at work and camping in the mountains of Washington State. No luck finding it but it's out there somewhere.

Wait just a minute, are you guys sure this model has been discontinued?
Where is this info coming from?

Ok, that makes sense because I know they're still making the fixed blade and even have an updated version coming out next year.

The blade isn't shown on the Buck website and it's been labeled as discontinued on another site I checked... Can I post links?

Hold on , just as a matter of general knowledge.Buck does not regularly show it's entire product line on it's website.
You may post links but I believe it must be a company that supports Bladeforums, so if they don't advertise here on bladeforums
don't.
I would not panic, even if it has been discontinued there should be lots around for sale until stocks are depleted.
If you want one ,try another dealer.

I'm sure that it may exist somewhere... Thanks for the information on their product line. Why wouldn't you share your entire lineup on your website? I originally was hoping that I could get some pics of rare/old Buck knives that people keep hanging around, but looks like that is unlikely... XD

Mr. James if you come around here from time to time you will lots of photos of old stuff.
Check out the sunday picture show.

Btw, when I carried a 484 I lost them a lot. I found the clips bent out easily. When I switched to the bantam series I've not had that problem. I also went to orange camo so when it does get knocked loose I usually find it.

I was working in the woods last weekend and I looked at the ground and there was my knife. I had no idea it'd been knocked loose from my overalls bib pocket. If it had been black I probably would have not noticed it on the ground.

Contacted Buck today through their website chat line.
asked about the 482 Bucklite Max,Elaine said it has
been redesigned for 2018.not discontinued.

That one's definitely been around! All the sharpening wear/missing steel makes me think of a knife I have with a LOT of history. When I was in Boy Scouts one of the leaders gave me a knife he found in a river when he was a kid. Blades rusted to an inch or so. he told me when he took it home his parents told him his uncle had lost that knife fishing-10 years before.

I'm really glad that they haven't been discontinued, but, frankly, I liked the older design a whole lot, so their new lineup needs to be top notch! :)

That's so cool!
