Hi!

I'm just back from my favorite off-line dealer, where i saw some very nice Mnandis.
While looking at them I realized two things.

First there is a new clip design.
The new clip is held by a screw from the presentation side of the knife, while the top of the clip is flatter, than the old design.
While this is a nice feature, since the old design had a tiny little bit sharp edge where the screw went through, a question has occured to me:
Is it still possible to use the knife without the clip? My impression was, that the clip doubled as the nut to the screw; so how would the knife hold together without the clip. Maybe there is a nut in the box. The boxes in the shop where stowed away and so we didn't look any further.

The Nut of the pivot screw has also changed a bit the radius of the blue circle is slightly larger now, maybe the head is also flatter (at least that's my impression).

If somebody can answer my question, I'd appreciate that very much. Thanks in advance.

PS: There is a Mnandi thread going on here, where I think I've spottet an new design in post#17 (by "lemmuhj").
I recognized it from the back screw that is visible on the presentation side.
Maybe you can shed some light on this. thanks again.

Yes, you can remove the clip on the mnandi. Just remove it and re-install the screw. Then you have a clip-less mnandi. I never carried any of mine that way, but I did remove it so I could see how it felt in hand and what it looked like without. You can also install the mnandi clip to either side of the knife as well.

As for the changes, I havn't yet had a new style mnandi, but I have noticed the pivot screw change. It looks more rounded and slightly smaller even or larger perhaps. I have not seen the clip to notice any changes to it. Would need a side-by-side comparison pic to see the differences.

I have always been quite happy with the mnandi the way it was.

I would imagine the changes helped in production in some way or Chris felt is was a design improvement.

Comparing a fairly new one with one from a few years ago, the only obvious difference I see is that the CR engraving is deeper on the older one.

The pin had definitely changed. That may be an improvement that allows more inlay material stability. Sadly, it also means no more decorated pins.

Thank You nyefmaker.
As I do own Mnandi's (don't know how this happened) I have one with the clip atatched and one without- because the wood is so beautiful.
My Q is about the new design, where I'm not so sure if this is possible.
That's why we need pictures.

I have the newer design Mnandi as seen below....yes the pivot is different (more round disc like), my clip seems to be the same as what's on my older Mnandi though.

PS: this one is a beauty for sure!

Hope someone posts a new clip, would like to see it. This one was purchased new from an authorized dealer on 12/12/11, built on 11/16/11.

Thank you for the hint.
Now I've to get the info about clipless carrying.

I don't like the new pivot since it adds a new cranny for lint and junk to get stuck in, but the new clip looks really good, a clean and simple design with good flow (since the logo is moved to the top and the lines go to the bottom of the clip, instead of half-down and terminating at the logo in the former version).
