Went to the tree lot tonight. Lighting was poor, temperature has been in the 80's, and the trees were picked through pretty good. However, I had an advantage over the masses. I am a studied Blade Forumite. Not only did I have my Sure Fire flashlight that I researched in Gadget and Gear, but I bought through the for sale G and G. It lit up that tree, well, like a Christmas tree. :o:foot:. It got some oooohs and ahhhs from the kids with thier parents. They commented on how bright it was. I just kept to myself and felt kinda smart. I also watched as other customers tried to untie the twine and laboriously unwind the tree by walking around it. I pulled out my Paramilitary in D2 steel which is beyond shaving sharp, and just ran it longitudinally along the tree popping the twine as it went. I found my tree in 10 minutes, and got home quickly. Flashlight and knife are two essentials on an evening tree lot, and I guess I was one of the few prepared. Fun time with my tools. Thanks Blade Forums!! You have brought me much knowledge, peace, joy, fun, and tacticoolness. Merry Chrstmas, Season's Greetings and Happy New Year.

Man, there is something just not right about 80*'s & looking for Christmas trees in the same sentence . . . . :D
cj65, when my brother moved to Alabama from here, he took a picture of he & his wife hanging Christmas lights outside in their shorts & t's . . . Wanted to drive down there & kick the $%#@!@** out of him right then & there.
Great post, as I sit & look at 4" of snow & -7* right now. Thanks . . . .
Be safe.

I wish it was 80 degrees warmer here :(

Flashlight and knife, I'll forget my wallet and phone but somehow I don't forget those two items.

CJ, what surefire you got?

I have the model 6L something? It is one of the cheapest out there, but it still is bright. i paid about $60 for it. There is no strobe on this one, but want that on my next one, and of course brighter.

I wish it were colder than that here as well. I enjoy seasonal change in weather, and we just do not get much of that in So Cal.

I went out with the fam the other day to look for a tree. There was one wrapped in twine that my mom wanted to take a look at. She barely got out "Hey Dekz grab your kni..." before my sister flicked open her Leek and cut the twine. I was so proud

One word "malkoff" :)

Seasons are nice and seeing snow makes it feel more like christmas but below zero temps are not as fun as they once were.

The cold bothers me more now than ever before, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. I love this time of the year, and am fortunate to be able to be inside in my nice warm house when it is so cold outside. My heart and prayers really go out to the homeless people who have to live in this weather.

We are in an unusual cold spell for western N.C. and have been for close to two weeks. Last night the cold temp was 9*, while the high today will struggle to hit 30*. Normal highs are mid to upper 50's, with normal lows in the low to mid 30's.

Btw, for some knife content: I really do like knives!:)
