Ok.. I have a tendencies to fold the blade and push the lock over at the same time. I can feel and hear the ball on the framelock making contact against the blade as it unlocks. Is this bad? Should I be sure to push the lock over THEN start to fold the blade?

I know, OCD. But I need to know! Thanks.

I get the same feeling about my spyderco liner lock ball dent wearing out, but after 7 years it I see no wear on the base of the blade where the ball catches and the ball itself has not worn noticably either.

My Small Seb's detente has developed a tiny flat spot on it from wear against the blade. The ball is ceramic, and long-wearing. Even with the slight flat spot on my detente, closing is just as secure as ever.

I always make sure to lube the detente when I lube the pivot pin. You should not be hearing or feeling it against the blade, and a drop of lube should fix this for a month or more (I use Miltec 1, but any of the modern synthetic lubes will do the trick).

Professor.
