Just returned from Moyoc,N.C. My aunt Janice will be 98 on 13 October . Her heart, lungs, liver & kidneys are very healthy. She has a large mass just at the entrance of her small intestine. They are trying to get her strong enough to operate. No signs of cancer. She is alert but a bit woozy,I guess it's part of her I V to keep her relaxed.
Driving up was no problem but finding Barbara & Tony's home was difficult so had to get on onstar to get orientated. Stayed with my friends & had a great time. Upon leaving "The ship hit the sand ! "
I have cataracts & night driving presents hazards. The fog at 05:00 was so thick that I became lost. Prudently driving at 35 mph in my GMC Sierra , I started down a small hill. SPLASH,I was in the Pasquotank river up to my front wheels! I locked my brakes & managed to keep the rear end on the ground. WHEW !
My first thoughts were about what to save, my cooler full of N.C. B-B-Q ,my clothes or my shaving kit & back-up pistol. Fortunately I backed out, turned around & headed in the right direction. Very dense fog I was headed for US highway 17 & a truck stop/handy way there. I ran out onto US 17 before I saw it. Pulled in,had a bite & waited until dawn . Drove to Elizabeth City & on toward I-95. Hit it & the fog burned off. Stopped for gas way down I-95,got back in & drove at least 1/2 hour NORTHBOUND! How I managed that is up for grabs.
Finally gor home, satisfied Aunt Janice wes going to be Okay.
I thanked the Lord for not putting anyone in harms way & keeping this old goat safe .
Please say a prayer for Aunt Janice.
Uncle Alan , a tired traveler .
