AdventureSworn blade in O1 steel
OD canvas micarta
brass loveless and brass tube

Cant say I like the way the micarta worked on this project. I def like working stabilized wood more haha. I am mostly happy with the handle shape, It may get a slight bit of working down the road, after some use of course. They always end up with some adjustments.

Good design for a companion blade, nice pronounced point and good sized belly. It gets my thumbs up. You're right though, scandis just don't look right with micarta.

Skog - That looks pretty rough, I'd better drive over and pick that thing up:D Seriously, that's a beauty:thumbup:

160 views and 4 comments WOW haha uh I know its not top shelf work guys but ouch...

Thanks to the others for the kind words. Much appreciated.

Skog, Nice job:thumbup:. Don't be too upset about the Micarta. What did you expect? (It's canvas) :)

I like the color, but I don't know...I just expected better texture or something out of it.

Ideally I would love some corian in forest or OD green. That may be a dream though:o

I look forward to seeing that this weekend Skog. Nice work!

Linen Micarta comes out much nicer looking, in my opinion. Good luck finding a colorful assortment of Corian! Skog, If I were you, I wouldn't unduly concern myself with the canvas micarta; there's only so much you can do with it.
You did a very nice job with it; either use it, or sell it. There are plenty of guys that would love to get a hold of that knife!

Oh I will be using it hahaha;)

I see dupont does custom orders on corian colors. Shouldn't cost much:rolleyes:

haha

Skog, that thing is a beaut. I for one love the beautifull burls, and stabilized woods, but Micarta is all business IMO. Very practical.

Hope to see some in use pics soon!

I wouldn't read anything negative into that. The ratio of views to comments is always high. Lack of comments does not equal a lack of admiration. :)

You're making me feel bad for all the other times I've looked at someone's knife but didn't comment. :o

It looks well executed, just not my style of knife. Even so, I like reading reviews, they have altered my opinion/perception on many designs. I love the micarta. I am a woodworker, but wouldn't have wood handles on any knife I own. Phenolics all the way for me. Thanks for sharing.

I like acrylic or polymer stabilized woods for handles, just not natural. Too many variables with natural, the biggest being moisture.

I have two phenolic blocks of a bad color I have not used yet. Where you source yours? I would be willing to try them out.

I am still adjusting around here. It is amazing how fast a thread can get buried though:eek:

I think you're wrong about that - it looks like top shelf work to me. I know how you feel though. That's one of the reasons some members quit posting skill threads. Why bother if nobody appreciates the effort?

Scott Free makes makes valid points here.

Back to the knife - beautiful knife, beautiful execution and while I can appreciate the beauty of wood scales, I value more the 'bombproofedness' () of micarta and G10, especially in a knife that could be considered a 'survival' knife, whatever the hell that is.
