I got my scales back today. Cerakoted Umnumzaan scales OD Green by Black Box Customs (they do amazing work on firearms). Of course the ceramic ball on the lockbar was not sandblasted or coated.
Not the best lighting as it's night time. I'll take pics in daylight and post them in the various pic threads on the forum as this will be back in my pocket for a while.
The tolerances on CRK are tight as expected. I just sanded the coating down slowly in the pivot holes until I got it all to fit perfectly. It needs to break in a bit, but with just the right pivot tension it flicks open as it did before.
I am not a lanyard guy, but I've had this piece of a bracelet in my toolbox that was made by my sister 15+ years ago and figured it would work well for this, so lets see how long it lasts.
I'd love to see CRK offering Cerakote as an option in various colors. I think it would sell well, but there are tolerance issues to overcome on their end to make sure it's perfect. I'm sure they could do it if they wanted to.
PS: I think this was a worthy way of voiding my warranty
