Hello all.

At a pawnshop the other day I came across an odd (to me anyway) buck and was wondering if anyone could tell me about it. It looked like a 120 (I think) 8-9 inch blade with brass guard and butt cap, but had a pakka wood handle. They wanted about $65 for it. It did have the box and looked to be in good condition. Could anyone out there tell me what this is and if it's worth their price. Thanks.

Can you find out what the tang stamp reads??? Or what the label on the box reads???

Awful big knife...8-9 inch blade; figure another 5" of handle...

Is it a Bowie???

I've paid more than that for a 110...maybe you better buy it, just in case...<no pun>...

Chickentrax, thanks for the info. It may have been the standard 7 inch blade of the 120, but it did look bigger to me. I can't get back there until tomorrow, which is pay day so I may just buy it like you said. If it doesn't turn out to be something I like I'm sure I can resell it here or elsewhere on the net. I just did a search and couldn't find anything like it on the net though, it's the Pakka wood that threw me off. I'm wondering if it's a fake for that reason. To answer your other questions, it is a bowie in the sense that it has a standard clip point blade like that on the 119 but not in the sense that you're thinking of. It basically looks like an elongated 119 blade, which is why I think it's some kind of 120 variant.

Buck does make the 120 with brass guard & pommel, but it's Cocobola wood...
