I recently acquired a six blade MOP Fight'n Rooster 3 3/4" congress. The knife was made in 1981 for the Kentucky Cutlery Assn. The knife is listed in Jim Parker's Fight'n Rooster Knife book on page 132. One blade is gold etched with a profile of Abraham Lincoln's head with the words Kentucky Log Cabin to the Capitol. Another blade is gold etched with Kentucky Cutlery Assn 1981 1 of 600 and production number. I have seen these in the past with the front scale plain and with a simple scroll etch. This one is different it has a etch of standing Abraham Lincoln. All I have seen have the production number as 054, 136, etc. This one is number 000. Has anyone seen one of these before? I thought at first it may be a prototype but all Fight'n Rooster prototypes I have seen has the word "prototype" etched on the back side of the main blade.

You might have better luck posting this to the traditional folders and fixed blade section. Most guys in GKD are more into more modern stuff. Also, I'd say post some pics if you can. Would probably help with the information you desire. Good luck.

Pictures would help a lot.
To post a picture as a registered member, upload it to a picture hosting site. We recommend Imgur. It's free. Once uploaded, copy the web address of the picture and paste it into the picture posting tool next to the smiley tool on the toolbar.
If you do use Imgur, it's even easier. Click on the picture, then on the right copy the BB code and paste it into your post.

I have seen several of these 6 blade congresses with blade etches just like in the photos. But this is the first one I’ve seen with Abe on the handle. My best guess is this was done by someone after it was purchased. No offense meant at all, but I have seen a few of those 000 serial numbers on other knives before. I suspicion sometimes that some unscrupulous dealers make those up. I’m not saying this is the case with your knife, I just don’t know. At any rate, you have an interesting knife and Fight’n Rooster made some of the prettiest pearl handled knives ever. Maybe someone more knowledgeable will have something to tell you.

Interesting. At first, I thought the Abe engraving was a series of spider cracks.

Nice knife. I need a MOP handle.
