Odd grind on the tip of my 9

I recently bought a bk9 and I love the knife, although it came with an inconsistent grind at the tip. I need some advice on how to fix it as I am not that great at sharpening yet. Any advice would be greatly appreciated it. I have a smiths Tri-hone that I use for sharpening. Also feel free to tell me if I'm just being picky haha.

the way the sharpened edge sticks out further than the shape of the tip seemed a bit odd to me, and I have a feeling that will break off if I put that tip into something like a piece of wood.

On this side the grind kind of disappears as it nears the tip

giving the tip a bent look looking down the spine.

As they say, these all have the edges ground by hand. This one must have been a "Friday knife".:D

It is frustrating to receive a knife with poor grinds, but I think a few minutes with the coarse side of your Smith's and it should fix it right up.

Let us know how it goes.

Ya I'm not complaining sometimes that is to be expected when they're hand ground. I just need some advice on fixing it as my sharpening skills are pretty limited.

Edit: Gave it a shot, cleaned up a lot easier than I thought. Fixed the shape of the tip as well.

Shit happens, Dutch.

If you are unhappy with it, contact Kabar and send it back.

It looks bent to me, but it looks like there was too much paint on the swedge near the tip. I have seen a couple like that.

Either way, we want ya to he happy.

I think it should be fine now, I understand they're not always perfect when they're hand ground. I fixed it up a bit on my tri hone, the bent look to the tip comes from there being more metal on one side of the tip than the other, although I managed to make it a bit better when I took it to the hone. It's going to be a hard use knife anyways, so as long as the tip isn't compromised because of it, I don't think it's that big of a deal.

It's okay man. My 9"er has a funny tip too.

Glad you got it fixed up man. Come back and post up some hard use pics for us.

Will do, although it may have to wait until spring. Heres a picture of my drive home this morning from my girlfriends house:

If I'm not in the shop then I'm usually snowboarding in the winter. I can't wait for spring though, I bought a new tent a couple of weeks ago, can't wait to get back out to Algonquin Park this year and put the 9 to work. Heres a picture from my last camping trip there last year. :
