Does the pivot screw on this small 21 look weird to anyone else? In that the screw head is domed like a pivot screw?

Bought it used a while back.

It does have a little blade play...

I only discovered it because I stripped out the screw head trying to fix the play, and the CRK replacement screw kit doesn't match up with my screws...

Is the screw a torx? They should be hex. More pictures would help. If you can take it apart see if there are date codes on the inside of the slabs. Pics.

So i pulled the screw and i'm 99% sure it was actually a clip screw (upper left corner of pic). Some knucklehead must have stuck that in the pivot. I replaced it with a proper screw from the kit and it fits perfectly.

Date code is C-15.

I'm no expert, but it's not my first CRK and it looks legit, at least to me. Even has the white-out hardness note on the birth card.

Would the CRK birth card indicate the silver thumb stud and lanyard pin as a special option?

CRK did change their screws. I am not sure of the exact date though. The older ones were like the ones on the regulars and have a polished look, the newer ones have machine marks and a higher dome.

Looks legit to me. I think you're right about the clip screw being used in the pivot. I've seen birth cards that indicate silver hardware. I don't know if they always do or did that on the card. Some indicate a special lanyard. It could have been sent in and silver hardware added. All in all, I think you've got a real one there. Other experts chime in.

Everything looks right... the v on the blade for s35vn, the dates on the scales. Only odd thing really is the play.. if real(which seems to be) it's nothing that can't be fixed by them. Good much with it

Your pivot screw was sticking out a bit.
Yes, I had to look at my clip screw, it's taller.

Play is Still there. VERY slight, but noticeable compared to my 25 or Unum. This is my first 21, the bushing changes the whole feel...

Really shouldn't have any blade play, unless you haven't snugged down(haven't backed off) the pivot screw, or are putting a lot of force on the blade.
They will fix it if you have the time and inclination to send it in

That was definitely a clip screw in your pivot, sticking out way too much. At first I thought it was a 25 just first seeing that. Glad you got it sorted. If you take down the knife and reassemble correctly and play still exists I'd send it in.
