I never would have dreamed what was used as a wedge on this one. No wood wedge that I could see and a fine job of counter sinking these was done.

The smaller one was driven in first and it was in deep. Drove the bigger one down beside it and even sharpened them before driving them down. A resourceful person for sure. Take a hinge apart. Sharpen
it and wedge away! It worked well because they were a pain to dig out.

Anybody got weird stuff you dug out let's see them.

No pics, but my dad had an axe that needed a new handle, and when he took it apart the former owner sunk 3-4 pennies in there, hammered in sideways and near bent in half.

Thanks Agent_H and sorry for the duplicate thread. I should have taken time to search before I posted. I will do so on the future.

Yep I imagine that glass is tough to get out.
I'm thinking these are like cabinet hinges.

Maddawg those pennies are hilarious.

i have a sardine can full of screws, metal "shims", nails, metal slivers, pennies etc

Pulled out two or three stainless steel washers out of a true temper 4# Dayton from the 50's or 60's. Original handle too.

I use the wedge shaped trimmings from the knife blanks coming off the metal cutting bandsaw.

you'll find all kinds of improvised wedges... washers, keys, coins, rocks and just about every type of screw, nail or bolt imaginable. That is the first time I've seen a hinge flattened and used though.
