Long live the Desert Jack! A military order that we saw an overrun from something like 2.5 years ago. It was part of the original Tactical line that included the mass produced (if anything from Wauseon can be called mass produced ;)) Ratweiler and the more limited Rat Mastiff. Arguably, one of the finest of the venerable Swamp Rat Line... the search for one was what got me hooked into this addiction!

Without further adieu... (most of these pics were harvested off the forums so and elsewhere on the web... except for a few, I can't claim credit.)

I just picked up my first Desert Jack at Blade West this year. I love it and it is a user.

Here it is held up in front of a light over our island

A thinner blade, often underrated, overlooked, and generally not spoken of in discussions of other Rats. I was lucky enough to find one some time ago and still have it. IMO, it is almost a must have for anyone who is a true Rat.

KG, was Swamp Rat selling them at Blade West, or did you buy it from an individual? You're getting my hopes up that Desert Jacks *might* show up at Knob Creek.

The only thing that came between me and my DJ was an older Satin Jack ( Black on black with paper micarta handles and 1/4" thick......ohhh she is a pretty one) I wouldn't mind getting another DJ....just need to locate one, or talk Wash out of mine.....errr.....I mean his, which used to be mine.

Sadly mine is no longer with me...

last i saw, she was still in Texas though...

It's a FINE knife for sure!

.... I still have it Xaman and many thanks. I still love it. - Long time no Chat!

I stripped the coating though! ;)

As much as I like it, I feel the Ratmandu may have beat it for feel and function.

But, the Desert Jack is sleek and prettier. ;)

Sweet knife that I don't intend to get rid of.

.

Nice collection of photos Paddling Man.... But, you didn't have any pics of a stripped one. Hope those help!

I want one (or two or three). are these still in production then? I second Guyon here with the question, this time for Eric.... were these for sale at Blade West?

Very nice, indeed. I'll "harvest" those, if you don't mind. ;)

Don't mind at all..... I posted them primarily for your benefit since I can see you have quite the collection there and clearly needed something stripped!

I have a similar collection of many other knives myself. ;)

I know you have a couple of my other pictures.... I have quite a few from your posts as well. ;)

Mckrob,

Sorry to say this is an older release that was very limited the first and ONLY time around. They didn't last long and haven't been seen since.

They were a military over-run.

There really is very little hope of seeing them again in this configuration from the Swamp. - Best bet is the secondary market, but they are very scarce there as well - limited numbers to begin with.

But, I have my fingers-crossed for at least a replacement for that gorgeous knife.

See here for my concept ideas: http://www.swampratknifeworks.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=10;t=005684
