Does anyone have actual hands on experience with Odenwolf brand machete? This appears to be an almost straight up copy of the Varusteleka Skrama 240. The Amazon reviews seem suspicious to me; either amazingly good or terrible. At the very best this speaks of inconsistent quality standards. At the worst it smells like someone is trying to stack the deck with good reviews. So, who has hands on put one through its paces?

The fact that it's D2 screams that it's Chinese manufacture, and it's definitely a Skrama clone. I'd avoid it personally.
Totally agreed, but I'm looking for feedback from people who have used one in the real world because the reviews seem skewed to me. To YOUR point, I'm not certain that D2 is even a steel that is optimal for machete use. Assuming heat treatment is done correctly, a leap of faith with a PRC made blade I am not willing to concede, I can guess that the cutting edge will be chipping on knots, eccentric wood grain, etc.

Correct that it would not be an optimum steel choice. Looking over the reviews they seem to be from people I'd not personally ask for tool opinions from--that is to say, mostly novices who don't have much of a frame of reference. So, regardless of if they're honest or not, they don't seem like opinions that are worth much.
