Anyone have info on Odyssey 1-HCS (Model 186FX in a clam pack coupled with a Smith's Precision Sharpening Kit? I just got one from ebay, can't seem to find it in any of my catalogs or the Buck Web Site. Wonder what it retails for?

Frank,
I have seen those at Sam's Club and I think they were selling in the $29 range, maybe a bit more. I am not sure.
See you next weekend at the Cincy show!!
Larry

Frank,

Larry is correct in that we did that set for Sam's. All i remember is that it was going to sell for about $30 less than we can make it for.

As far as i can tell, Sam's plan is to retail it for $29.00.

See you in Cincy!

Thanks Larry & Joe, I've never seen any knives at Sam's Club, must not have made it to Michigan, at that price it's a pretty good deal.

Just saw the Odyssey and sharpener set at Sam's Club for $29.95. Last year they had a 110 with sheath and a 2-AA cell flashlight in a clam shell for $29.95.

bte-what kind of sharpening system comes with it?

Maurice, Thanks, I believe it is a Smith's Sharpening kit, similar to a Lansky kit. I sold mine at our show this past week-end, as I already have an odyssey and a Lansky. Still haven't seen one at our Sam's

one more question...
whats that sharpening kit like? does it do a good job? hair flinging sharp? is it as good as a lansky?

Maurice, I did not open mine, outward appearances seemed to be OK, I like this style because you can pretty much match origional blade angles, while also maintaining the same angle on both sides of the knife. When I start I take a black marker to the angle and take a light stroke & adjust till I match origional.Hope this helps.
