An ebay listing for a 1921 issue of COSMOPOLITAN MAGAZINE. This was thee magazine, back in the day. Very high class reading for gents and ladies. Listed in the item description is the advertisers, and if you follow it down, it's alphabetically listed, you'll find there is an ad in it for Schrade Safety Push Button Knives.

Switchblades weren't alway the 'bad boy' of cutlery. In fact, for fifty years or so, they were simply another tool, another pocket knife. Certainly a ladies sewing kit would include one; it was a noble weapon for a soldier to carry and a useful tool for the sportsman. A gentleman carrying one in his pocket during a night on the town with his best girl wasn't magically turned into a homocidal maniac.

It took a few 1950s teen hoodlum movies and an act of congress to make them 'evil'.

I'm not bidding on the magazine. Just thought you guys might like to read of it. If LT decides to bid (in the very off chance he wants it), please respect that.

Thankyou Phil yes I have a few of that ad. In fact I had a copy in the exhibit in Ellenville. Thankyou for thinking of me. Thankyou also for your comments on the laws on these items some of which have one inch blades. Of course these laws vary from state to state from completely legal, to various forms of legality, to a felony in New Jersey. One has to remember these laws were enacted when Elvis could not be viewed from the waist down on Ed Sullivan. Elvis is gone. replaced by much more suggestive viewing. Unfortunately these laws are still here. LT
