Greetings you all:)

I really love my Para, but it bothers me a bit that my blade is off centered.:grumpy:

The knife locks up like a vault with no play in either direction, but the blade is about 1mm off centered.

I wondered, since I read a lot of this problem with the Para, are there anymore of you Para owners with this problem? I may be a bit too picky perhaps:confused: :o , but I would really like to know.

I tried to correct this by fiddling with the pivot screw, but no succes.

Many thanks in advance

Mine is a bit off-centered, too. I don't know of any way to fix it. I think it's fine as long as it isn't scraping anything.

Both my Paras have had off centered blades, and my newest one has a bent tip that came that way:(

Yep, mine is like that also. Mine is that way because the two sides of the blades are not ground evenly. The center of the blade is actually centered but because more is ground from one side, it appears to be off center. Hope that makes sense.

I am not bothered by the blade being off-centered, but since the last 1/4" of the blade is ever so slightly bent, it makes sharpening it evenly difficult. The bend is so slight that I didn't notice it for a few days, until I went to sharpen it. It must have bent pre-tempering or warped because I have tried (hard) to bend the tip back and it is solid. I will say that I got really frusterated and said "hell with it" and tried has hard has I could to bend the tip back not caring if I broke it, but that blade is TOUGH. So now I just live with it.

Have you sharpened it yet? I usually take care of this type of problem with a good sharpening, paying more attention to evening out the tip.

If the blade is bent so badly that you have trouble sharpening it, I’d definitely send it back. Spyderco probably won’t replace the blade, but they may give you a new knife. It’s a QC issue: blades can sometimes warp during heat treatment.

I wouldn’t worry about it if the blade is just off-center and not causing any problems. In my experience, it’s common to see knives in that price range with blades that aren’t perfectly centered.

I think that it was warped during heat treat also. The bend dosn't have a sharp angle then a straight section like a bend from prying etc., but a gradual twisting bend. It is really slight, and Spyderco would probally think I am being too picky, but it does cause a small section near the tip to "miss" the stone when I sharpen it. I am going to go ahead and keep it has is, because everything else about the knife is 100%. I would definatly buy another Para though, excellent knife; but just from a dealer where I can see and hold the one I'm purchasing.

Well that's crazy, on my Para, the handle is off center. Oops, no it's not, it's the blade. :D

Seriously, my blade is slightly off center too. I love the knife so much, it doesn't bother me a bit.
