Leave tomorrow evening for a couple of weeks in another land.... we can play a guessing game as to where ....

have fun mate!..... Look Out for dragons and Orcs and such....:D

I see that you're taking your precious with you..... One knife to rule them all?

Enjoy your trip,, per the norm I'm sure we'll see some great pics when you get back

Have a great time Andy!!!

Hopefully you'll come back to a big GrASSHopper and B-Ait Sale!!!! ;)

They may not let you back in from that place Andy.

....... yes, I was explaining to my Maori mate of many years that it was clear the NZ National IQ average was going to increase markedly over the next couple of weeks. He just warned me not to covet another Bro's sheep.... ;)

Awesome. My wife and I were there last May and I loved every minute. What areas are you going to?
.... all South Island. The Minister of War and Finances has planned it all so I am part of the luggage ... ;) No camping etc but there should be a few walks through the wilderness involved.

... There is no Middle Earth critter that can withstand a good swipe from a Fat ASH mate... I was last night emailing a mate in QLD about good Hobbit Loads for the .300Win. I think we settles on 165gn Nosler Ballistic Tips, should knock them right out of their furry feet !!! One knife....yes, as I do the Drunken Nudie Run (national pastime here of course) through Hell I will be carrying an ASH !!!!!!

Enjoy your trip,, per the norm I'm sure we'll see some great pics when you get back
.... I would hope so....despite the tour masters frustration at my tinkering with the camera. Got a new CF tripod for the trip (to help with the excess baggage charges and my back when packing it around ;) ).

I hope you have a GR8 time Andy, and definitely look forward to your pics!;)
..... thanks Tom..!

enjoy
I just hope you don't miss the coming B8:eek:
.... contingency planning mate...... contingency planning..... ;) ;)

Have a great time Andy!!!

... I would hope to !!!!! And yes having both or those in process would make it worth coming home..... especially something ASHy :D

Hey Andy,

If you find yourself in any used book shops, would ya keep your eyes open for Footrot Flats #26... it's the only one I'm missing.

Enjoy your trip and I always look forward to your report and pictures!!!

Good idea bringing the ASH... those Tahr are as dangerous as the Wombats!!!:D

I probably have FF #26 "somewhere" !! Growing up I use to buy each one as they were released, I could relate to Wal and Dog !!!! I have not read any in years !!!

My Aunt used to send them to us from Oz when they were released and somehow #26 never made its way over the pond. I have the rest of them sitting here in my office and I'll grab one randomly out of the stack now and then to reminisce a little about Wal and the Dog's adventures! I understand why Mr. Ball stopped the series, but I wish it never ended, they were/are fun reads.

Seriously, Let me know if ya find a copy and we'll work something out!;)

Have a Great Time... NZ is on my Bucket List!!!

We did the South Island as well. There is a lot to like about it. A few things:
-The Pegasus (I think) Hotel in Christchurch. Wonderful pub and great meals. The dining area is nice enough that your better half won't object :) Also some great local brews. Christchurch is a great city. They've been through a hell of a lot with the earthquake and demolitions but that city is so positive and progressive and there is a massive sense of community.
-Just west-ish of Christchurch is a town called Springfield or Springton or something. There are big signs saying the bakery there does the best pies. They aren't lying. Absolutely superb.
-If you like hamburgers and you're in Queenstown go to Fergburger. The best burgers I've had. They're expensive but so worth it. Fergbaker next door is also very good.
The lake tour is also very worthwhile doing in Queenstown.
-Single lane briges and polite drivers!! Both are almost anachronistic these days.
-Pubs serving lamb shanks and they're all damn good.

We found that NZ was everything good about Australia in the 80s, before we got complacent. It's laid back, casual and positive.
...as you may be able to tell I am just a bit jealous :) hope you have a great time.

....Footrot Flats:eek::eek::eek:.....mate.....haven't seen one of those since '83!!!! Crazy nose hair pulling magpie..... pig dogs..... Not to mention gum boots!;)

Have fun Andy!
There's plenty to see and booze is somewhat cheaper...
In my humble opinion the burger in 'Pig & Whistle' is better than Fergburger.
And it'll be cooler than Sydney.
