...Didn't I read in a thread somewhere that off-shore knives had a "T" on it's left side as an identifyer?...

I think that was only for 2005, offshore production had the "T" mark for 2005, while domestic production had the shape of the state of Idaho for the 2005 tangstamp.

All offshore production lines will have either "China" or "Tiawan" on them, they have to, so they really wouldn't need a special symbolic mark for those lines.

Look at your March 2005 newsletter. It shows Idaho for 2005. that is for USA made knives

T on its left side is for offshore made knives in 2005

T on its right side is for All 2006 knives

Someone posted that the Buck website is now up to date but I don't think it specifically states the difference in the left T and the Idaho for 2005.

But, the china 373 I have, has the left T.

I don't think I have actully seen anywhere where Buck states that the left T is for 2005 offshore.
doubt that you will find a USA stamped knife with a left T. Will be a collectable if you do...

I also have a china Mayo-Cutback 174 laying here that has a T on its left side.

Says he worked for Buck for fifteen years. You'd think he'd know the markings...at least, if he did know he wouldn't put that BS on the bay for all to see:confused:.

What was that my Pappy told me..."better to be thought a fool..." yes, I think that's applicable here. Preston

I guess I should be nice and say that maybe this guy just made a mistake in his research on the 174 and the year codes.

His seller id bugged me and I went back and looked. Sure nuff, I bought a piggy back set from him a while back in one of my uncontrollable splurges. It was advertised correctly and it came incredible fast. And he does have a perfect feedback score. Probably one of those "stuff happens" kind of things.

I went back and looked at it again...it has been relisted. I don't see much in the way of change in the description...am I missing something??? Preston

...well...If it is a Buck boo boo how would ya prove it if they use that stamp next year?...LOL...

And now...I'm wondering if that is 'our' DarrylS that has put a bid on it:)??? Preston

...Yep...He was good enough to revise that info so I felt obligated to start the bidding off for him...:D :D
