This one will go across the pond to a good customer in England. This was done to his specs and was a lot of fun to make even though it was a little out of my comfort zone. This is a celebration knife too because I am now completely caught up on orders for 2010!

Forged from 1/4 inch 5160
Flat grind
Sambar stag handle
Wrought iron fixtures
Overall length: 15 inches

Missed this one.....you do a great job, Gerry.....I enjoy the ones you made for me.

I see some grain in the guard - how was that done?

First I was lucky enough to find a beautiful piece of wrought iron at the dump. I almost walked away from it but thought "what the heck, I will make something from that rusty piece of steel". I couldn't believe what a nice piece it was until I cleaned it up with a wire brush. After I forged and sanded the iron to shape I did a very long soak in ferric chloride (etchant from Radio Shack) and worked it over with a wire brush again. I have used this method on tires from old wagon wheels and old farm implements in the past too. Fun stuff.

It came out great, almost a wood grain.

Nice work. Hey- your hand in the pic looks like mine! You must be a knife maker (smile). Nice caribou. I hunt a lot in Alaska - subsistance lifestyle. Have fun in England
