Hey everyone,

we just found out the Army is moving us to Ft Benning, GA after being at Ft Knox for less than a year (wife was selected to attend a school there).

We are moving at the end of May and Blade is June 5-7 and since I’ve never been and always wanted to go, I will def be driving the 1.5 hrs to attend.

Do you guys that have been have any tips? Better to buy the early bird tickets or just get them at the door? How does purchasing work, is it cash only? I’m guessing Busse probably won’t attend again this year, so I only have a few makers I want to visit, but want to experience the show and maybe discover some new makers

I don’t go after the Friday stuff. More of a headache to me than it is worth. I drive down Saturday morning stay the night and go again Sunday. I have found the best deals Sunday.

Early bird tickets and get in line very very early for Friday. That’s only if your rushing to get to a table for limited knife etc.
I’ve only been once and it was worth it !!!

Never been to blade, but I have a bit of advice for such an event. Stay healthy. A lot of gun channels I watch have all been mentioning that they caught the “Shot Show Flu”. So, wash your hands frequently, take your zinc and vitamin c and other supplements, don’t eat any gas station hot dogs or buffet style meals, and do your best not to bring diseases back to your family/friends/coworkers. Also, bring lots of cash.

Yea I’ve been to SHOT and with all the people everyone gets sick

Went to Blade in 2007 and 2009 (?). Just so very cool. Not sure of your interests, but Busse didn't go to the show last year. For me, the bladesmiths/forgers section was amazing. So much talent, so many hours evident in each blade, the value proposition was impressive.

Kinda went through my phases of big blades, folders and now EDC stuff. Would like to meet Keffeler and talk about a sword though. But it’s mostly just to go, maybe find some new makers that I like and just experience it since we will be moving again the May after to who knows where

If your not after any particular knife, that would be limited or highly sought after release. I’d take my time and enjoy what blade show has to offer. Plenty to see and do there :-) No matter how you do it, you’ll enjoy it. Check the listings for exhibits or classes as to what’s being offered and have fun. :-)

This will be my third year attending and exhibiting. The last two years there were people camped out the night before to get in on the early passes. Both years reports were that the wait for entry on Friday morning was up to several hours.

I hope you can come though, it's an amazing experience and even though I have never actually walked the entire floor due to time constraints running my table, it's awe inspiring for anyone that likes knives. I got a nice table upgrade this year and will be up the first main isle to the right of the main room entrance, six rows back on an end table. The show is more about networking and getting my work in front of people but with luck I'll have a CPK K18 and sheath on display along with plenty of Busse's.
