hi, my daughter spent an hour at school a few days ago listening to her english teacher bash the military and anyone who has servered as brainwashed idiots. now shes a sophmore and as a kid of 2 military folks she was offended and this is the poem she wrote in answer, she said her only dislike of it was it didn't say fu to the teacher. but i think she got her point across.
THE FLAG
Once proudly waving in the wind
Now sadly sitting in a bin.
An old piece of cloth remembers
That fire fights last embers.
Carried proudly held on high
That bit of cloth swelled with pride.
But shudders as it remembers
That fire fights last embers.
Men and women fought and died
So their families could survive.
Proudly the cloth remembers
That fire fights last embers.
Honor and dignity held their lines
Proudly acknowledging their ultimate fine
Grieving for the lost the cloth remembers
That fire fights last embers.
Defending their child, their country, their love
The brave soldiers looked above.
Praying for their families the cloth remembers
That fire fights last embers.
Carried home by the triumphant few
To see eyes full of criticism and abuse.
Angry for the few that bit of cloth remembers
That fire fights last embers.
Then finally even the few forget
To remember how they met!
But that old bit of cloth remembers
That fire fights last embers.
Put into a bin
Knowing now itll never win.
Ashamed, that flag remembers
That fire fights last embers.
Ashamed for a once proud country
Filled with patriotism and unity
That flag remembers
That fire fights last embers
Not everyone is lost however
Men and women will march forever
For the remember
That fire fights last ember.
so to everyone else who has served thank you.
