Hi folks
A few of you have asked about my name (Pipeman) so I thought I'd show you all. As some of you know I am Metis (Cree/Scot). I have been honoured over the years to make Sacred Pipes (peace pipe is a misnomer) for quite a number of Elders and Healers ( Pipe Carriers) to use in Sacred Ceremony such as Sweat Lodge. This one is for someone very special to me to be used in Prayer. When a Pipe Carrier fills the Bowl each pinch of Tobacco is a Prayer, the Smoke Carries the Prayer to the Creator.
The Bowls are carved from "Catlinite" Named after George Catlin who was the first white man to see the quarries in Minn., we call it Pipestone (thus the name Pipestone Minn. This piece of stone has what we call The Flesh and Blood of the People The pink layer is at the surface of the stone (the Flesh) and deeper in the stone you find the Blood, this piece also has the Tears of the People ( the pink spots) a very special piece of stone.
The stem on this pipe is a puzzle stem where the smoke hole runs around the edge of the stem rather than through the middle.
The holes in the stem represent the Four directions and the Stars which relate to the name of the person I made it for.
It still needs final finishing and a bag for carry.
Hope you enjoy.

Best regards to all
and all the best in the New Year.

Robin
