I don't know where else to post this, but I'd like to tap the expertise here.
I just cleaned and sharpened a drawknife for a lady. I was heavily rusted, but as I cleaned the backside, I noticed a piece of steel forge welded to what very much appears to be a wrought iron "body". You can see the filaments of wrought in the body and the steel insert is clear and flawless save for some light pitting.
The touchmark appears to read "WH Thomas", and underneath that, "cast steel". Never heard of this maker before. Anyone have some info??
