All I have to do if I want to get off the phone with someone is start talking about knives. Understand, all my acquaintances are pretty well hardened to my barrage of knife talk but sometimes I really drone on... This can be an effective interpersonal tool -- or an item of chagrin!

:p

Tonight it's both! Good thing my friends love me. :) I'm outta here, Happy Thanksgiving everybody!!!

Dave- there is a hot-line # for folks like you to call, I just never really cared to write it down! To heck with turkey dinner, I'm gonna do some grinding!!!:D

Heck all my friends have basically disapeared because of the knife talk. Not only does talking about knives get people off the phone but it will also make them leave the house real quick also..
I do have one friend that will talk knives for hours but if you start talking about anything else he will get off the phone quick.Thats the best type of friend.
People just don't understand how much knife making will take over your whole life,Oh well I guess I don't need all those friends anyway, leaves more shop time:D

I have made some real good freinds right here on the forums since nobody here in town wants to talk knives since my best shop buddy moved to Tacoma a couple weeks ago, Im really feeling withdrawals. I joined the Washington Knife Collectors because their show is in Tacoma each year. Something to look forward to.

Shoot my wife will hardly talk

Sylvester,
I don't try to talk to my wife about knifemaking, she doesn't understand. For example, the day the delivery company called a few years back (when I wasn't home) and said they had a large deivery from Tru-Grit. I got home and she told me about it then asked me what the delivery was. I explained it was the new Hard Core grinder I ordered. Then I got the "why didn't you discuss with me" statement. I asked her,

"Do you know the difference between a Wilton, Bader or Hard Core grinder?"

"Well, no" was her reply.

"Do you know anything about variable speed?"

Same reply...

I then asked, "Do you know what they cost?"

"No, how much?"

"A couple of thousand with some attachments."

"TWO THOUSAND...!"

"Whoa! Wait a minute!" "This isn't costing you a thing and with Texas being a community property state, once it arrives, you are automatically half owner of a two thousand dollar piece of equipment, with no investment."

"Oh. OK." Then she walked back inside.

(Guys, this only works once) :)

Now, about that mill...
