Hey, can anyone recommend a good "small" digital camera. My camera just broke and I want one that works good in low light conditions. I want to take outdoor pics and video's and hopefully post some pic's here. I know a lot of you all post pic's on this site so I figured I could get a few suggestions. (maybe in the $200-$300 range)

thanks...

I really like my Fujifilm finepix Z33WP - small, light, easy to use, and waterproof!

One of my coworkers got one for when he made a month-long trip to Vietnam and he loves it. I love it too and I'm very envious. :p

I bought my wife a Canon sd1200 is from Staples ,$150. Havent had a chance to play with it much. It has an iso setting up to 3200. Goole it for reviews. It is suppose to work fairly well in low light.

I too am looking for a similiar camera. One of my requirements is it takes AA batteries too. I know, good luck with that.

just curious..why would
you want AA batteries? Wouldn't they run out of power very quickly?

I'm seriously thinking about the Sony Cybershot DSC-TX1:

At 142g with batteries and pocket size, I guess it would work well as something easy to carry around. But to be perfect for the outdoors it just had to be waterproof, though if I'm not mistaken Sony has a water-tight bag that fits over it.

Lithiums last a good long time, and you can get high-tech rechargeables, too. Since AA's are the most commonly used battery type out there if your battery dies it's easy to buy some cheap replacements to get by on. Many DSLRs take AA's for that reason. :)

I bought a Canon A530 almost 5 years ago, and it's taken some good pictures and endured some pretty tough conditions. I'm afraid it's long since been discontinued, though. For about 150 bucks, it was a good deal. I wonder how the current corresponding model holds up compared to it.

Same here, sort of, I have an A620. Great cameras, good close ups and simple to use. AA batts and SD cards are a plus for me!!
Recently upgraded to an SX10IS which is more like an DSLR but I still go to the A620 for quick shots and for packability.

I got my A530 on close out 3 or 4 years ago when they were discontinued and love it! Used to use standard AA's in it but last spring I switched to Energizer Lithiums. The advertisements say that those batteries last up to 8 times longer in cameras and they are correct. I've taken around 950 pictures and 5 to 10 minutes worth of video with 2AA Lithiums.

If I was in the Market for a new Digital camera that takes AA batteries, I'd be looking at the Canon A1100 and SX120 IS. They don't have the highest ISO but thats never been a problem with me because I carry a mini tripod in my backpack for low light shooting.
